This year I will do it after years of saying. OK so its cold and miserable outside. So what do I have to do to take my S2 Elise for a driving holiday in the nice warm sun? What happens with lights/spare bulbs and all that ....

I've done 5000 miles this year in Europe in my Elise; bloody excellent fun!

There's not much to it really. Make sure you have ALL your documents (insurance, license etc). 5 star AA European breakdown cover is a MUST. I've never bothered with spare bulbs. Warning triangle is a must, as is a fluorescent jacket. Keep a big bottle of water in the boot (just for safe keeping). If you're going to switzerland make sure you get a vignette (swiss mway tax).

Urmmm, that's all I can think of right now. Other than that, enjoy it - it's bloody fantastic!!!

Handy link summarises what's legally required.

www.theaa.com/staticdocs/pdf/allaboutcars/overseas/aa_compulsory_equipment.doc

I always take copies of the key documents and store them away from my main luggage, just in case.

How do you alter the headlights for left hand drive?

You don't.

You buy a little kit (which is basically two stickers) from halfords for a ludicrous amount of money (£5ish) and stick them over your headlights in a certain place (it says where in the instructions). However, I've only done that once and to be honest it was purely to show the police should they have pulled me over (to show willing, so to speak) however on subsequent times I never bothered - but, having said that, I didn't get pulled over either.

Aren't there little levers on the back of the S2 headlamps to switch the direction of the beam for LHD/RHD?

Yes. A bugger to get to I believe and the manual doesn't describe how to very well.

or you just use insulation tape and make a token effort.
