Hi, I think a lot of you would like a trip/ride and ofcorse a lot of cartalking/looking at/on the "green hell" as some call it but better known as "The Ring" the Nurburgring in Germany.
Its the Ultimate experience with more then 73 bends! and going from lowground to highground its an amazing ride and takes a lot of practise and rounds just to even get to know it a bit, its a horror ride but also a big challenge.
I've heard a lot of people talking about it, and as I planing to go several times this year we could set a date the coming months for this summer!
I put a UK website link on this so its also easy for you guys to pick a few dates wich and when you maybe can go and lots of info more, when time goes more towards summer we pick a date when its time and go to that circuit and where we meet, here is a link:

www.nurburgring.org.uk

and here is the official link of the Ring where you can find lots of info about opening days and time's for public and cars;

www.nuerburgring.de/index.php?id=106&L=1#1312

Think about some date's your free or like to go, and post here what you think about it and if you like to come with us, we will set a date later on this year but before summer ofcorse.
Hope many of you can join us, would be fun to see a lot of you for real and talk direct while having a great day and a experience you never will forget!
have fun and watch this thread, and drop all related RING stuf and talkings here

Great idea GTRene, could be lots of fun. Anyone got any advise on which PS2 game gives the most accurate "ring experience" us virgins could do with some playstation work just to get some track imaging going during the winter weather.

Gran Turism 4 (or 3) is supposed to be the best. The xbox game Forza includes the GP circuit, which is longer.

Great idea, would be happy to join
GT4 is quite good but distance between bends is not accurate from what I have red. Never been myself there.

and it doesn´t show you how steep an how little runoff there actually is.

Nothing beats the real thing. Take it easy on your first 100 laps.

I´ll be there May 23th and August 13th till 16th

I've had the GT4 gran turismo with all the tracks incl "THE RING" its amazing how things look,(but I have to say never play games) I bought it for a good price iclu the game and steering, tried it for 2 days(wanted to use it longer because I could learn a bit that immens track as I can not use all that info quik with my brains)the track sieing was amazing, but I found the experience dramatic! as chouca says, nothing beats the real thing, you dont feel it in your bum? you got no connection with the road and the steering is strange! not real..so I brought it all back to the shop! lucky a nice girl there and she takes it back and I got my money returned and a expirience richer...no game no learning, I have to do it in the real, so very slow I think but I wana keep my car safe and driving there is realy hell...
for example their come's a straight and you can go flatout in the highest gear, then a small hill you can't look over...then almost direkt that hill a sharp bend but you forgot was it a right or a left one cose of so many bends!
So be very carefull also because when a car crashd the close the circuit to rescue and clean so the track is then closed for that time...and no one can drive because of that...
GTRene,

Ow, I also will put the date that one of us goes to the RING in my opening thread, that way its easy to find, so when you put a date when you think you go, I put that also in my beginning thread so we good see who goes and when and what data weve got.

I can vouch for the fact that the PS2 Ring in GT4 is very accurate, but sadly the car physics are not... It is designed for children to enjoy driving a Tuscan S in the wet...

I think getting something that handles like a real car is quite important as it helps to know how the handling changes as you traverse the various sections with their crests and dips etc. The Ring is specifically designed to be tricky to drive because of what it does to car handling.

I'd reccomend "Grand Prix Legends" for the PC, which was only a fiver last time I saw it. A wheel and pedals are essential to drive it properly (around £50 - I'd reccomend the Logitech ones). The car physics isn't perfect, but they're in a different league of realism to the PS2 (i.e. it is realistic!). The rendition of the ring is 75% as good IMHO. Bear in mind that you're driving the old ring with the loop at the start/finish (no real missing track, just a bit extra), although someone has created a modern ring for you to download off the web (search for GPL Track Database). Other than that, the ring hasn't really changed that much since then.

If you do have a go, my best time was a "something" and 10 seconds (in the Lotus, of course!). 8:10 maybe? Or maybe 7:10, I can't remember. Bear in mind that was on the old 1960s track with the loop, so it isn't comparable to a modern time.

yeah, A real nice video, that tels it all when you stay over for a weekend at the ring, some friends I know go also with a van and then they sleep in the van and drive the whole day(when there are no accidents)
I even saw a Nissan Sunny GTI-R(pulsar gti-r) in the beginning grey one, I also had 2 grey(and 2 black and 1 red) and on the Ring a truck with a blue Z3 M coupe as long as its blue and not my color and as long as its dry, I hate rain, then I don't dare to go fast...

I'm taking delivery of my new Exige this week, and plan to do some track events in it. Going to Nurburgring would be fabulous - how long would it take to drive there?

Also Lotus UK and some Exige Cup dealers do the 2006 racing season, and also go to the Nurburgring! on 14 and 15 april they are there to race, and you can too
You can drive with a standard/tuned(roadversion) Lotus Elise/Exige S1 and S2 but that will cost you 350,-euro ex btw its for the Regularity Races and thats is for the whole evenement(2 days) and you have 2 trainings from about 20min and a race that takes 30 min? anyway I think the race on the Ring is for the Cup and only on the F1 cirquit? but don't know for sure...

those are the data from the racing season and Regularity Races ;

01-02 April Hockenheim Duitsland R.R.+ RACE
14-15 April Nurburgring Duitsland R.R.+ RACE
T.B.A Engeland R.R.
9 Juli Colmar-Berg R.R.
12-13 Augustus Assen, Holland R.R.
16-17 September Dijon Frankrijk R.R.+ RACE
30 Sept.-1 Oktober Monza Italië R.R.+ RACE
14-15 Oktober Magny Cour Frankrijk R.R.+ RACE

I'll be there on the 28th April, leave here at 3am to get the 7am Ferry (need to check in at 6.30am, 1/2 hr before leaving port) from Dover to Boulogne. Drive over, sink some beers in Nurburg that night, then to the track for when it opens on the Saturday dinner time!

Soooooooo excited.

Anyone else going to be there at that time?

Ofcorse when time goes more to April>>Mai>>Juni moer data will come then we also can/will set a date that most of us can go there, keep us posted when you surely go with or without others...

You must be very excited Sarah, maybe minidiva in her Exige could join too congrats to you and welcome to the madhouse I know stuart1969 is also from Scotland?? so he maybe knows how long it takes, and maybe you could drive together from Scotland! just look at a roadmap on internet and type Nurburgring Germany and your place then you see how far it is...so maybe best to book also a cheap hotel around the track? much info on both links in the opening from this thread, both can be changed in English language, best of luck.
