A set of brand new Exige wheels and A048's popped up on SELOC. So I bought them, and I happy.

If it's raining/wet on Friday for the airfield day would I be better keeping the RE040's on?

Did the same 2 days ago (Exige wheels and a048) and went directly to the track, which was slightly wet in the morning. I believe if it is NOT raining but damp yoko are as good or superior, if raining of standing water, bridgestone are the choice.
I should mention when arriving at the track on the last roundabout, had the rear going wide with the street slightly wet, was a little surprised. But everything was there for it, brutal change of mass (exit roundaboot), right foot a little more heavy than required (almost arrived) and sun on wet road... Was easy to correct BTW.
Congrats for your choice, the best you can do...., have fun

Phil - IMVHO don't use the 048's on the airfield even if dry. They are soft and the wear rate will be really high if the track is dry. The bridgestones will be harder wearing and give you the opportunity for a bit more tail-out fun.

The forecast is for wet last time I checked. I am certainly not going to use my 048's on the airfield.

It isn't a race! The best part of the airfield days is the hooliganism - tail out stuff, spinning on the high speed corner. I just dont want to waste a great track tyre by chewing it to bits trying to get the car to go sideways on an airfield. The days are the most fun in the wet - giant skidpan stuff!

You just don't want to have to worry about the state of your tyres when you are having fun. I do not want £300 worth of wear on my track tyres. If I wanted to go fast and impress on the slalom course, I would bring them. I would rather get the tail out and have a laugh!

I did realise that. Anyway - it will be a laugh with either set.

don't forget that tyres are £620 from B&C, not sure if you can get them cheaper elsewhere.

Just curious, what are people paying for the exige rims with A048's at the moment?

I paid £1150. No idea whether that was a good deal or not. I was searching for a month for wheels alone and then these brand new ones popped up on SELOC. Given the tyres alone are £620 I thought it was worth it.

Excellent deal on those rims. I paid a shade over £900 for my yellow band OZ's with one scuffed alloy.
