Hi

I ordered an Exige yesterday and thought it would be a good idea to say hello to you guys.

Delivery should be 1st March and I am expecting no sleep between now and then.

I'm looking for useful, legal, suggestions to pass the time as I have already exhausted my collection of brochures, magazines, leaflets and websites.

I've been looking at the Exige S2 for sometime now, and having read some of the comments from you guys I finally gave in and placed the order. It really is my dream car and March can't come soon enough.

Welcome to pistonheads. Great choice of car - loads of smiles ahead of you. As for passing the time - skiing? Dinking?

FFS don't read motoring magazines - it will only make the wait worse. You can always become an internet forum whore like the rest of us and spend counless hours taking the mickey out one another. Pistonheads is generally a lighthearted place where we generally frown at getting stuck into one another. (Unless we really know each other, at which point the humour tends to descend to a much lower level)

Hope to hear more from you - where are you based?

Thanks very much.

I'm based in Surrey and drive to work in London every day. The Exige is possibly not the best commuter car I could have chosen but If I'm going to sit in traffic I'll do it in something interesting.

Becoming a'Forum Whore' sounds like a sensible idea. I have an uncontrolable hunger for all things Lotus at the moment and I think PistonHeads could be the answer.

I've ordered the car from Dream Machines in Sussex and would be interested to hear of anyones previous experience of them.

That's the spirit! Welcome on board.

Bought mine from Dream Machines and so far have been very pleased with them. Unlike many dealers they seem genuinely enthusiastic, which always helps. Also in their favour a couple of times they've ignored the chance to make a quick buck and have saved me money so that gets a big thumbs up and repeat custom.

When you get her enjoy.

Welcom Markus a good choice you've made! specialy in when you commute in London, a coupe/hardtop is a bit saver and I like those looks, also the wetter is not always that great overthere I believe
Now the hard part.................you have to wait but your waiting will be rewarded

Congrats

Very nice

... just you wait till you drink in the view as you walk up to YOUR new Exige ... press the soft remote button with your thumb to open up the door ... slide down into those enveloping sports seats ... breathe in that unique brand new car smell ... wrap your fingers around that small perfectly formed sports steering wheel ... fire up that engine sitting just behind your head ... gaze out onto the open road ... and slot the gearlever into 1st gear whilst blipping the loud pedal ...

Ooops!

Marcus

I'm local to you, would love to see it when it arrives, what colour combo spec etc...

I think I know you and therefore i hope your colour choice will be wiser than those on some of your previous cars. Great choice of car though. Finally, you've got something with a bit of pedigree!!!!

Very poetic bjc... nicely put I'm lining up just that very felling too soon! And yes, I've already played out the scene mentally too!

Oh, and that's all come about thanks to friends here at PH, who did an excellent job of warning me off the "should I shouldn't I?" thought of a 111R (even a spanking new one) with comments like "Post the pics when you get it", "I give it three weeks", "Just get one!", "It's just gotta be done" and so on

Fair play to ya then Marcus. I was also welcomed here just a few days ago, so to pass on the sentiment, welcome aboard fella! Would like to offer you some really some good, constructive and mind distracting tips, but I cant! That month long wait is just gonna kill ya - it bloody would me!

Sweet!

Wait till you start thinking about upgrades! These darn cars become an obsession - why else would I be on this forum. Actually it is because my wife is watching Trinny and Suzannah and I can't be asked.

I think I may have seen you around... Light blue Noble M12, often stuck at Jct 6 on the M25? Nice car.

Colour + Spec... Starlight black with silver wheels, Stage 2 Exhaust + Induction kit, Touring Pack and A/C

Has anyone painted the brake calipers?

The dealer offered to do it for me for £300!!! How hard can it be?

I painted the brake calipers on an M3 that i owned, easy to do, but i suggest, unlike me, you allow for sufficient daylight to finish the job. In fact the dealer that i sold the car to was convinced that the car had been subject to a complete brake upgrade (main dealer). I would however suggest that you seriously consider letting the dealer do it for you, a duff job could result in ruining what looks like a beutifully spec'd exige. Congrat's again on the purchase and i'll enjoy seeing you on your commute. Jtn 6 it is then!!!!!

I am a doctor - would be really sad if I didn't know about that sort of thing. What the heck do you think we spend six years at medical school doing? Certainly not studying.

Re the calipers: £300 for having the brake calipers painted is a tad steep. Loads of folks have done them, with variable results. Black brake caliper paint or heat resistant hammerite seem to be the popular choices. Painting them in brighter colours is a bit more prone to going wrong if the match is wrong.

It's not hard, they've probably factored in hoist time while all four wheels are off.
