Standard S2 is 0-60 in 5.8 and 0-100 in c17sec and all out about 130mph. They did the type 72 in 111s spec too which drops 0-100 down to 14sec.

Sure you could order a black 111R and sort the wheels.... 0-60 <5sec and c13 to 100mph and c150mph top speed.

To get similar performance you'd need a honda conversion (c£10k), Sport 190 or Turbo Technics TT190/230 (c£10k), .... no Audi conversion for an S2 as yet.

Don't get hung up on power as they are all sweet and the purity of an early 120bhp S1 is hard to beat.

The S2 has paint issues but heard of more problems with later cars - my doors were sprayed under warranty.

I guess the real question is how much you spending and how extreme can you suffer? I drive a 135R daily with semi-slick tyres and track suspension. Pot holes rattle your teeth and lack of tyre heat makes winter "interesting" !!

the Type 20 looks cool. But where do you put your luggage on a trip to France?

If I were in the market for a new Lotus, this would be the one:
