Hi, I know there seem to be a constant stream of people who are excitably waiting but hey, I thought I'd introduce myself since I'm too excited to sleep!
I'm going to pick up my Elise on saturday, its a Norfolk Mustard Yellow S1 I found on this site, can't wait! As its 350 miles away I'll be spending 10 hours on a coach overnight tommorrow to travel down but nevermind, I would only be watching the clock somewhere else!
I have my first question already, will we be able to fit 2 small bags, 2 pillows, a car cover, shower cap and the roof in the car on the way back? Or shall we abandon the pillows for sleeping tablets?

If it's the yellow S1 in Dorset, I fancied that one but spent too long fannying about with finances/my conscience. Congratulations, he who dares wins, Rodders .

Great colour choice on the S1, had ours for 20 months now and I've driven it pretty much every day and if it isn't raining the roof is off, just need to budget for a wooly hat. Your kit shouldn't be a problem, toured Scotlanf last year for about 10 days - squashy daysack each, carrier bag of nicks, coats, boots and car cover all fitted pretty easily.

It doesn't matter what you've packed in the boot as long as you've got your toothbrush and toothpaste because you will be grinning all the way home! if you have to put the roof on some earplugs or an ipod would be a bonus. Enjoy. Wrinkly.

Thanks for enthusiasm! 2 hours until heading to the coach station!
Turnamere I've spent a while looking at your car, it looks class. Have been trying to decide whether to go for black wheels..
I'll get some pics up soon if I ever stop driving, and yeah I think in v cold weather and wet I will have to be very careful and take it easy home..
Now where is my wooly hat....

Best of luck to you Jimbo, do take it easy tomorrow, the roads are very very greasy at the moment and as many of us found out this afternoon on the Activity Day it doesn't take much power to spin the wheels and set the back end loose.

Black wheels on yellow Elises rock. As does black paint protection in front of the rear wheelarches, and black viper stripes!!! You know it makes sense

When you can find the money, I would go for some nice black wheels(finisching touch) looks very good on yellow(more raw, racy, boy)
And maybe you can sell your old wheels?? have fun, and don't grin the whole way back your face is not used to that, you could get serious jawpain

Its aching already actually. Its setting the icture as my wallpaper that did it. Infact since that last post above ^^ I haven't done anything.
Think if I decided on black wheels then originals would be refinished, heard bad things about powdercoating them though, has led to cracking on some apparently. Maybe painting is a better option?

A good wheelpaint can do some years when you don't use to agressive stuf to clean...
If you have already nice wheels, and want to save some money, yes you can go that route.
But you also can sell the old ones? or keep them as spare fore other tires(track or wet tires or winter?)
Sometimes you can buy a set of good black wheels for a fare price include new or good tires, but you have to be patient then
Just keep looking, save's you a lot of work...or do it when you need new tires anyway?
and do some low bidding, when they bite...buy

Yup sounds like a plan. I used to have unlaquered polished wheels so used to plenty of elbow grease and no cleaning products.. But will I be able to stop driving for long enough..

I've found a temp cure for everyone else waiting to collect their cars. GT4 and Nurburgring, pick whatever you are waiting for!

Hi James

Gotta be killing ya all this waiting... and waiting... and waiting

Just wanted to say I'm excited for ya mate - just gotta be great feeling! I'm lining up an elise purchase as soon as I can get all my financial ins and outs squared up (by end of next week should be ready to go look in anger... just waiting for this frustratingly necessary period to pass is bad enough!)

Enjoy the trip (both phsical and emotional!)

All the best
