The lotus bug is really hitting me hard at the moment with summer looming too.
I have had 3 lotus S1 's now and i love the look of the 111r so thats the one i want.

With my experience of lotus i think i would have to have it as a 2nd car which puts a bit of strain on finances and my result in having to wait until next year which i dont want to do.

I have read numerous posts about the 111r and people claiming it can be used as an everyday car, so i want some honest opinions, eg whats it like in the wet etc ?

I havent test drove one yet as i dont trust myself as my common sense would go out the window and would prop agree to 30k without thinking

Any feed back would be great

Hi, for your information I had an S2 111S as my daily driver for 3.5 years with no problems at all. Living in the West of Scotland I know a lot about rain and poor road conditions and never really had a problem. My gf drives my old Audi S4 avant and at no point did I ever have to leave the Lotus at home and take the Audi.
As for my future plans I will be collecting an Exige Cup 240 next month and that will be my daily driver for the next 3 years, so go on, you know it makes sense!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the wet, no problems at all - lots of grip but obviously 2nd cam demands some respect. The car has an understeer bias with plenty of warning before things go wrong.

Motorway miles can be hard going but the newer R's have better seats. I covered 320 miles yesterday (M11 / M25) – not the Elises best environment.

I too use my Elise everyday with no problems, come sun, rain, ice or even snow, in fact three hour blizzard was more like it, although it is an S1 so that doesn't directly answer your question, but I'm told the S2 is easier to drive and live with. One day I will try this for myself but don't want to be tempted to change my car just yet

Me and my missus have an S2 and an S1 respectively - no other cars. We use them both daily, wind rain or shine. Mine's fine, she can't get reverse though...

Mate of mine uses his 111R every day, rain or shine.... always pass him driving to work in my daily driver and he always looks a LOT happier than I do in my wagon! :P
