Did anyone see the tiny stand (just round the corner from Rollcentre and the larger Cars & Car Conversion stand (with the 900bhp Peugeot 407) with an Elise under a waterproof cover? If so, can you remember what the company was called - I am trying to find them as you can get a new cover for about £65 if I remember correctly, which is excellent value, and they looked well made too. Failing that, has anyone got a copy of the relevant floor plan to hand that they could scan and e-mail to me, as I will remember it from their location.

Cheers

Nick Whale Sportscars were in that area with Lotus products. In fact I very nearly bought a lid from them (if only the salesman didn't try to convince me that Snell 2000 was the newest standard...)

these are the guys - not the most flattering cover but who cares if it stays on, keeps people from scratching it, doesn't scratch the motor itself and keeps the worst of the rain out whilst allowing a bit of breathing

If you're just after a quick way of covering the roof, a lot of S1 owners swear by Elemental shower caps - and the ones I've seem are very good - they cover the windscreen as well, so great for frost etc. They're only £10-£15 more, seem to be a lot easier to live with.

I've already got one of those, and it is very good. The main thing I want to do is reduce the chances of some scumbag keying the car on the way back from the pub, plus it would be nice to set out for a run without a constant stream of water blowing up through the radiator for the first 2 miles for a change!

Not wishing to hijack the thread, but, how much quicker is the shower cape to put on in place of the roof and more importantly how wind resistent are they? Talking about 60Kts or so of wind; my car is parked very close to a helicopter operating area and if I park with the roof off it gets a light dusting of cr*p inside. each time one takes off or lands.

You have to put the roof on anyway to fit the shower cape, as it attaches to the two prongs at the rear of the roof. It is basically just to provide a better seal, because all s1 roofs (unless you are very lucky) leak where roof meets window

Stupid question, perhaps, as I don't actually own an S1 yet but why has nobody produced an aftermarket 'window seal'? A bit of rubber which slots over the upper edge of the windows to fit flush with the roof, filling the small gaps left where the windows meet the roof normally.

I may experiment with something along the lines of the above as mine will be living outside and, on the street, it's not very practical to leave a shower cap attached all the time.

you could always just wedge some crumpled up cling film into the hole - the problem is usually caused by a hole just behind the windscreen frame at the top of the glass - if you can plug that, you will be fine, I've thought about keeping some in the car for that purpose, but once it starts tracking through, you can't do much to stop it
