seems a bit busy in the cockpit, what is the engine in that thing?

I admit that it's not the greatest in the world, but to be fair it looks as though he's struggling for grip most of the time which I guess you would be with 400hp! Looks good fun though!
For the most part it looks as though he is actually trying to unsettle the car which I have done myself on the odd occassion and where conditions allow! Although please note that I have never spun!

Given more skill/experience or practice he could have driven a lot smoother and gone much quicker as a result. But sometimes you don't have that luxury and just have to take the car by the scruff of the neck, learning how much grip there is as you go. It did look very ragged, but that probably just means he was trying very hard without enough opportunity to practice first. The car did look a bit of a handful and I bet he had huge fun doing that, I'm envious!
Mmm,
Little hard to judge, don't know who the driver is but he was clearly being kept very busy!
Think the guy was doing ok seeing as he had over 500bhp/tonne to play with on a very twisty section of track.
Little harsh I think - I think he did well keeping the damn thing wheel side down!
Dunc

I think that the Elise chassis should be able to handle it. It'd be interesting to chat to Walshy when he's got the V8 on board - he'll have that sort of power/weight, if not more. I can garauntee you that in car with him won't look anything like that.
The only cars that I've driven that I can really compare that too are the Noble M400 I drove at Bedford Autodrome last year, and the Caterham Superlight R (both around 400bhp/tonne). Neither car troubled me, or any other driver I've known who's driven or owned them, at all. That's not a comment on my driving or their driving, moreso on the cars. 435bhp in a car that weighs a tonne (The M400, and what you've got in that Elise too) just isn't a massive handful. I've watched in car in tuned F40s and mad 911 turbos, and nothing that I've seen has been that messy. It is 100% the driver. I do believe that the Elise chassis can handle it, but obviously with a small capacity engine the boost will be very high so when the turbo kicks in it will be kinda hairy! However, I drove my Caterham in the wet many times and sure, if you were even slightly rough you'd probably have spun within seconds. The truth is, that guy is just being very rough with the car - and cars don't like that - especially Elises!
If you watch his driving he is being very rough with all the controls and operating them in completely the wrong way. Sure - when the boost comes in it is causing power oversteer, but he's so violent with steering and throttle he's causing most of it. I'm pretty confident that if you put a half decent driver in that car it would be a fairly relaxed affair.
