I just decided to start the car to listen to the Larini for the first time although I am still waiting for the left hand pipe (I couldnt wait.

Nice rumble when first firing, but I noticed that when revving the engine a bit the note sounds a bit high pitched, maybe 'farty' is a better word! I didnt wait till the exhaust and engine warmed up so I cannot comment on the sound when hot.

Is this a normal sound when cold? Does it dissapear when hot as I have noticed some cars with aftermarket 'cannon-style' exhausts sound this way when cold and that sound goes away when warmed up?

I've got a larini+decat+4-2-1 on mine, but it's an S1... the raspiness when cold goes away when warm.... mind you, mines an S1, and with the 4-2-1 that's supposed to be a better sounding combo.

I was reading that the decat gave the 'cold effect' all the time?

Possibly.... but I did the full exhaust in one hit so have never had the larini OR the decat without the 4-2-1. TBH the change in mine is barely noticeable between cold and hot.

It's times like this when I think I should have bought an S1.

Hehe well personally, for me I'm an S1 guy.... but the S2 is an all-round better car, I'll admit that... having said thet, the S1 with larini and all the goodies sounds delicious and as a raw, pure driving machine and toy, the S1 is VERY hard to beat

Post some sound files of yours up when you've done it.... would be nice to hear a comparison

TonyHetherington has a Larini & Decat on his S2 111S. He popped round to mine this weekend to pick up a K&N and I could hear him before I saw him... and that's through double glazing!

Sounds great Tony BTW!

Thanks my good man Must say I'm very chuffed with it! At full pelt it's even better

Regarding the sound when cold, when it warms up it does sound a bit different - less raspy. Look at the videos in my profile to give you some sort of idea! Oh I've been away for a few days so I assume the problem with your exhaust was that they'd sent you two identical pipes?

Tony: Yes they sent 2 identical pipes by mistake. I am still patiently waiting for the correct one. I just hope it bloody fits/aligns well!
