either use a Hangar111 phone stalk (if you dont use one for your phone) or jut throw it in the dash tray if you have an S2 ..control it from head unit then. Alpine do a head unit with built in Ipod controller and cable...just plug it in, hide it away and off you go

Cheers Bogie.

I just ordered an Alpine CDE-9850Ri stereo off some car stereo website. Stereos are generally pretty simple to fit, but with this having an ipod lead i just wondered how easy it would be to feed the ipod lead from the back of the stereo in to the through the dash tray?

Is it a complicated act or is there somewhere else better to put the pod?

theres a few places you can bring the lead through, and then either leave it in the tray or get a phone stalk and stick the Ipod on there... I just leave mine in the tray to be honest and forget about it

I'm running an Alpine swing-face CD player in mine and I run an Alpine iPod controller in the boot. Basically I've got a wire that runs from the head unit back through the centre console (S1) and through the OEM wiring route, up through the engine bay into the boot. Back there there's a small box about the size of a packet of fags that controls the iPod. It's hidden out of the way behind the boot liner, I just run the cable from that up through the boot liner and keep my iPod back there. It sits in the boot and just gets left there and forgotten about. I don't have to worry about charging it, or it getting stolen. Navigation is all done via the head unit. While it's a little slow and clumsy at times to navigate, you get used to it and it's more that you're trying to navigate a huge volume of music.... it's certainly easier than leafing through CD wallets!

It's not the cheapest solution, it's the tidiest... stops everything rattling around inside the cabin too, also stops your iPod eing on display, which is a big theft deterrent.
