Afternoon one and all - ought to officially introduce myself to the community really... have posted here and there on some topics, but now that I'm in possession of an order sheet, I guess things have moved on a little!

Firstly, many thanks to :- shangani, beachbum, hbaumhardt, theweeninjaguy, GTRene, cej, TonyHetherington, shot2bits, nobbles, boggy, denyer, tomtom, GRL, mustard, bogie, Splodge S4, Sortie 10, CatherineJ, buzybee, k50 del, S Works and markizok for your thoughts and input to my initial 'Should I, shouldn't I?' questions etc. I kinda knew I'd get a 'just do it' response (this is an enthusiasts forum after all!), but some constructive, similar circumstance related comment really went a long way. Add to that the heaps of passion that surround Lotus owners and I was booted down a cliff that I was already tying a bungee to! Thanks again, really appreciated

The new direction (US & Toyota, rightly or wrongly - all sides fully appreciated) has definitely turned my head towards Lotus - and despite being initially slated by some PHers, I found the Sports Racer such an attractive MY06 model package that, even tough it was outside my initial target area, I found it hard refuse... and couldn't... so I didn't!! I'm now very impatiently waiting for 1st March to roll around - Christ, doesn't it just drive ya crazy? I'm so bad at that kind of thing anyway but this is absolutely doing my swede!

I'm not the type to wish my time away! I am still trying to take it all in actually and am enjoying the whole experience if the truth is known - feeling alive is what it's all about! And yeah I know... it ain't even started yet, not by a long way!! A Walshy day or two is clearly a must, as well as getting involved in some runs / trips - definitely!

Fair play to everyone here - an excellent Forum with even better people. Rather like the 'whole Lotus thing', this has heart and soul - that's what it's all about for me. Ta for the welcome and the help so far...

Congratulations! You now have no excuse for not joining the motley crew for a Bolocs run etc as the weather gets better. The sports racer is an excellent choice - most of the mods many of us have put on are already there. Probax seats too. Very nice

Don't worry, all the leg pulling from us K-series engined lot was in jest. The toyota is the most sound off the shelf choice. I am sure you have many fantastic days of motoring ahead. Take it easy in the beginning and when you get it, summer will be only weeks away.

Nice one, and the new tradition is to post a photo of the order form (with suitable obfuscation)

Another one takes the plunge - well done!!
I know how you feel - I had to wait about 3 weeks back in November to collect my beauty - I couldn't sleep or eat properly for the whole 3 weeks, and even before I signed on the dotted line the prospect of even owning one was too much to cope with - I was like a love-sick teenager! What a great feeling to have though when you're way past being a teenager! Stuff these cheesy '10 years younger' makeover TV shows - go and buy a Lotus!

I did my first airfield day with walshy the other day, and it has just made me love the car even more, cant wait for the next one on 23rd Feb! well recommended.

Good choice!

I too am another new recruit, having signed on the dotted line today for a new Exige!!!

No ordinary Exige though.....there is a new version in the offing and I have gone for it - arrives sometime in March.

Dealer tells me there has been no official word on this car from Lotus yet, so I'll leave you all guessing what it is!

What/who is Walshy?

Cheers shangani - you're right on with all that... as ever!

S Works - exactly the response I was expecting from ya fella... exactly! Have already come to expect nothing less! But aww, c'mon mate, please come for a drink, don't have to be late... I just have to tell you about how my new...

Yeah Minidiva, I'm in... and in bloody deep too! I am so useless in this state - haven't been able to get focused on anything else over the last few weeks. Some people will never understand that - they just won't get it. Shame

True boogy, you do get a lot in 'em - to spec all the kit on mine from basic 111r would come out at a £36,580 list! Of course, some would argue it's all overpriced anyhow, but coming in four grand less than self-spec shows what a 'relatively' great offer Lotus have strung together here. Coming from Audi, I did personally like the Air-con option and as it was available in a good deal, had the limited slip diff too - though of course, gaining the full benefit of that will be, well, limited!

Batster that sounds very intriguing - you gotta be pretty damned excited about that! Exige is a tad too hardcore for me... for now but that does sound rather splendid! Walshy is Andy Walsh from www.carlimits.com - good word has it that he is the dogs and a day under his instruction is the dangly bits!

Ta for the congrats hbaumhardt - and 'obfuscation' was a great choice of word! Sorely under used one feels As requested here is said edited Order Form: www.doltonrangers.fsnet.co.uk/cars/srorder.htm

"Impatients Club" sounds just the ticket Jean... there, there, just let it all out. Cuckoo! The great bit is, that it's only gonna get worse until 'the day', but from there on, just a whole load better! ( ...until things go wrong with it... and they will... but it's all just part of the experience )

Ta bjc388! (perplexcity is a lady you know!) Mmm, sweet spot... Hethel is a place on earth Great use of popcorn metaphor too!

I'm up for the 'Lotus soon to be owner club'. Expecting the Exige sometime in March also. I've exhausted my supply of back issue road tests, downloaded videos, dealer brochures/leaflets and websites etc. Everyone around me knows as much about the Exige as I do as, apparently, I talk about nothing else. Professional help needed.

Baster, I too have heard of the 'Secret Exige' and if we are talking about the same car you are a very very lucky man. Nice one!

Ahh, reminds me of Friday and Saturday nights in my local just under two years ago - late Feb to May waiting for deliveries (Lotus had just started US production and were still doing VXs so were a bit busy) of my Elise and James's Caterham plus another mate had ordered a Triumph Speed Triple, picked it up early March, then had it written off after running it in (bit frustrating!) and had to wait another month or so.

Caterham turned up (in boxes) early May. Elise turned up a month later, when the Caterham was being finished off. I won't even mention the wait for the 7 to be SVA'd...

The wait will seem like ages but you'll soon forget it.

Nice one emenel - I can't believe you've exhausted your diversionary supply..? Just go round again! That works... doesn't it..? please say it does!

I ordered the carlimits dvd yesterday to help kill some time...

Don't have GT4, but I've heard that's a good tactic too. May have to get it... should occupy me next Thursday between 5:47 and 7:22pm!

Now, where's that SR promo flyer again..?

Great days Kevin, great days. Bloody glad I don't have to go through that!

Hi Mark!

Ooo yes fella - very Red, and simply quite bloody stunning! The press photos do not do the Sports Racer justice... I think everyone thats seen them in Dealerships have been rather struck

Many thanks for your 'off-forum' time and input mate - really appreciated. Any more thoughts on that Exige you looked to be lining up..?

Your 'horn' post made me chuckle - for many reasons! The best type surely has to be the old classic (claxton?) ones on the jalopy's of old... now there's a market if Halfords can replicate them!!
