Help on upgrades
Discussion
Right having decided to keep the 111R for a while longer I'm planning upgrades. I currently run an ITG and Quicksilver Supersport Exhaust. Brakes are currently EBC with Redstuff fronts and Green rear, including braided hoses.
I will be looking at power however that isn't go to change in the next few months.
I fancy Ohlins which would give me something to tinker with hoever can anyone tell me how much of a difference they make to a standard 111R, and how controllable they are. Anyone wih experience of them please shout. Do they make the ride less comfortable or better how easy is it to change the understeer oversteer etc.
Cheers

most people buy 1 way adjustable suspension an fit n forget, with the occasional tweek for track days.
Unless you know exactly what you are doing theres no point in going 2 way adjustable...and you probably want a day or so at each venue fine tuning things.
to get the best out of them you really need the wider wheels/tyres too - on std rubber you are not going to gain much......

Hi Fish,
After ITG, I moved to the yokohamas A048, exige wheels and ohlins at once.
So I cannot tell if the tyres OR the dampers are making the difference but the improvement is huge, HUGE.
As I was going to a track the first day after fitting, the settings were for track. No more understeer is the first point. If too quick, the car was sliging on 4 wheels with "easy" control of the rotation with the throttle. I did not try power slide due to the price of the Yoko and my "poor" skills
.
I am very happy with the olhlins, but maybe the nitrons are as good for cheaper. The comfort is not that bad with the track settings, it is firm but not painfull.
Adjusted for "road" use (2 clics on dampers" and 1 clic on front reservoir), is making a real difference. Subjectively, I feel it remain, a little more sporty than the original. Th eundersteer is less but that ciome also from the wider front wheels.
So if I can give an advice, I would move to the wider front wheels (either 4d07 or a 048) and see the gain before to upgrade to the ohlins if the effect is not as expected.
I am personnally lookung for more info about ohlins settings others than the one with the a 048 but its is quite poor.
Anyway, enjoy and let me know if you have any other question.
Ben
