Proper sorry frown! It only takes about a mile or so of motorway and my rear view is my headrests! Is this a common thing with standard rear view mirrors not being able to stay upright, any suggestions or shall i just get the blue tak out to gunk the socket/ball joint up a bit...

Never heard of that problem before?!

If the joint is generally loose, a new mirror from halfords will only be about a fiver I think.

Try tightening up the allen key screw at the top of the arm - might do the trick for you.

Never had that problem with mine, although it did fall off during some "spirited" driving, I nearly soiled myself as it flew into my lap.
If anyone is interested the kit with the glue & the mesh that they sell in Halfords worked great, even survived higher than average G loading when I trashed the car.

Lose it completly, you dont need it.

Took mine off and can now enjoy a clear view when turning left not to mention superb line of sight going forwards generally - what luxury indeed.

Tried a small version; the sort mothers put up to make sure children aren't killing each other in the back of their MPVs's. It fell off when I was cleaning the car and never bothered to put it back on.

Havn't missed it at all.

Mine didn't had a mirror when I bought it and AFAIK it's not a legal requirement to have one. I missed it a bit at first but you soon adapt to using your external mirrors and you have the benefit of a clear view forward.

I've had that long time ago in a Ford Taunus 2.0L because of the heat it fell of the windscreen and did not put that back because I had 2 side mirrors...but that way I did not see the police car coming and I was speeding a bit doing 160kmph instead of the 120kmph that was aloud there...he past me and hads to stop...but got away with just a warning explaining to him we(a girlfriend and me) had to go in time for a movie and I was speeding also to get passed a German car...he then looked inside the car and saw my girlfriend then he smile'd and said; well, I could not ruin the day for you and your lovely girlfriend but if I get you again speeding today on your way back your busted...I sayd thanks, and go my way again, nice police officers(those were at least)

And if you have a Exige 240 you can't see it anyway with that big cooler in the way nice view though

lol, just do like me and get your head chaved(bald) that way your head looks always cool and don't have to use the mirror for that.
I use the mirror to check if there is no unindentified police car behind me or someone trying to go faster then me

I thought it WAS a legal requirement - even the 240r that has absolutely zero view out of the rear has got one anyway IIRC as it's required by law.
A mate of mine got pulled over once for not having one.

Its only a legal requirement when you not have 2 site mirrors left and right(is 2) at least it goes that way in the Netherlands...

Now this is an important issue, do the folically challenged Elisesters (GTRene) go faster than the mullet boys (Reubsta) in the summer months, can the drag of my flowing locks reduce my status as an all out Elise gangster? Should I be getting the shearers out and lube up my slap head with a large dollop of factor 15?

Yes you should. Has nothing to do with you going faster, just my wierd sense of humour at seeing someone try it

This is a classic, happens with lots of S1's. The ball in the joint goes smooth and won't hold after a while. If you can tighten it up then great, if not there's a solution which I have adopted which is basically set the mirror arm to "full droop" and then adjust the angle of the glass accordingly.

If you search on SELOC for "full droop" you'll see I'm not joking. It really is explained that way, and I believe was coined by a certain Mr Walsh
