New tyres for my Elise. I have put on the new Lotus tyre Advan Neova AD07 LTS. What a brilliant tyre. Far FAR better than the brigestones.

I was warned that the AD07's wouldnt be as good as the brigestones in the wet. I think they are better in every aspect. High speed they are confident and stable and in the twisties they grip like crazy but sill slide very progressivly.

Very impressed.

Rather good to hear that Goobs - they're on the one I'm still waiting for (...god, I've never known a week to drag so badly... two still left yet )

Any indications of costs for future reference fella?

£108 + Vat + Fitting ect each for the rears and £77 + vat + fitting for the fronts. Total I paid £502 for the whole set.

As a comparison the Bridgstones are £170 + vat + Fitting each for a rear.

AD07 LTS = cheaper and better.

I dont think they will last as long!

Interestingly - the steering is much lighter

Why?

I also don't know ecxat why, but I remembered every time when I had a car with wider tires and I change for new tires(also other brands) I discovered the steering was much better and lighter and ofcorse less understeer so then the euro's where good spend

Are those the ones? or is it LTS? they talk also about a very good wet handling cose of the extra silica?!

www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=ADVAN+Neova+AD07

and are those used for the Exige and some Elise's with sport packs...?

www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=ADVAN+A048

they talked about the AO48 like this;
As the tire's outer shoulder tread wears from hard cornering, the ADVAN A048's directional tread design and symmetric internal construction allows worn tires to be remounted "inside-out" on their wheels to help prolong their life. funny don't do that with toiletpaper

its a friendly car tire locator, you also can look under cars if you don't know the tire size look under this, also compateble prizes? its in dollars...

That is really pricey - Hans got a whole set of Bridgestones fitted for 340 quid.

Bridgestone RE040 175/55 R16 80 V DOT CFE £75
Bridgestone RE040 225/45 R17 90W DOT CFE £94

Am I the king of cheap Elise motoring ? Bracknell tyre & battery 01344 411323 fitted all in £338. Whilst thats for VX220 spec CFE rears rather than DCK, drop the pressure by 2psi for the stiffer sidewalls and there is no noticable difference (e.g. Copse corner in at 80 and out at 90).

because I have just had the geo done and i dont really want to re-do the geo, i went for standard 175 fronts. I have never really had a problem with understeer and with the geo properly done the understeer/ oversteer balance is very good, i am happy with the 175's.

They are the LTS (lotus tuned suspension) they are only available through the dealers. Apparently they are a different compound.

My old bridgstones were about slick! not surprising after what walshy did to them ;-)

Doh! :Slapshead:

Oh well, I am really enjoying them. The decision was really made by the sodding great screw embedded in the center of what was once called a tread.

The only grip on my old bridgestones was actually the wear markers!

Great fun in the wet

...no officer, they are AO48's with a snow stud, they are ment to be like that!

Yeah yeah, blame the welshman why don't you.

Nothing to do with your balletic efforts of course

Sounds like a good alternative and a great price too .
