Heater fan not working. What to check?

Before I take it in.
Only picked it up Friday (from a dealer) and to be honest forgot to check the only electrical bit on the car
Shame the dealer is 130 miles away. I have an insurance warranty, so should be fine to take anywhere.
Didn't need heat as it was sunny, same today, but will need heat at some point, I guess. Fan just doesn't start up on any of the three settings. Switch moves freely as does the sliders. Fuse is fine too. How would I check relay, without buying another when the one I have may be fine?
Anything I can check? And how do I get to it. 1998 S1 by the way.
