I know this one has been done quite recently but just thought I'd share this with you.

Ive just renewed the insurance for my S1 Elise and with Tesco they wanted £950 with a Tracker. New company £765.00 no tracker, that is cheap any one got lower?

Bear in mind Im 25, 4 years no claims, no accident claims or convictions.

The company is Choice Quote. they are well worth a try if you are looking for insurance.

Have been with Norwich Union for the past two years at around £800 and £220 excess. Have now gone to Adrian Flux (08700 777888)£688 £300 excess. Adrian Flux were very professional and no bloody foreign call centre.

This was for a S2 1.8 ST with Janspeed Exhaust and Pipercross Air Filter declared.
Me and the wife to drive aged 34ish.
A couple of NF accidents and the WIFE's SP30.

I have decided to run a cheap Nissan sunny that I bought for £175 and insure my Elise on a 3000 mile limited mileage policy that brought it right down to £445 and the Sunny only cost £147 to insure.

Hope this helps - insurance for an Elise is always a screw!

nice past choices (I know your S picture from somewhere - was it featured in Steve Heath's S Bible?)

Mine is around £550 through Competition Car Insurance and that includes 4 trackdays per year. I'm 27, full NCB, GSOH and 6'3". Car garaged, 10% additional premium loaded into there for my modifications too.

Have you tried confused.com....???

I know I must be getting old now.... but my 240R is just under £600 a year and that's living in Southampton which is not a great postcode.... I will say though that I gave up on track day insurance years ago... do too many days for the costs to make sense... and loads in Europe where cover is almost impossible

I am Southampton too but found the trackday cover paid for itself as the policies that offered it were also competitive as against standard road cover with non-specialist insurers.

have been looking to re-insure myself. have tried every company under the sun. i'm 26 with 3 years no claims. elephant.co.uk and adrian flux were equal cheapest with admiral a close 2nd. be careful with the 10 months bonus accelerator with elephant as some companies won't accept it as being a years no claims.

Im also having trouble trying to find someone to insure an s2 for a reasonible premium. Have tried Elephant and am waiting for Adrian Flux to get back to me, but due to me having a bump last summer in my van im getting quotes topping £2500 despite being 26 Can anyone recomend any other insurers or tips on lowering the premium?

Cheers Chris

Try putting your Mam on the insurances as a named driver, or your aunty Alice, or anyone lower risk than yourself. This dropped my premium.

Try www.confused.com. It checks loads of insurers and lists all the quotes. You can then amend your details and run the search again. To my surprise I found Admiral the cheapest -I think they heavily reduce their premiums for new business. Mine was £480 for an S1 valued at £14000. I,m 40 and the mileage is limited to 5000pa. Hope this helps

bizarrely enough, when i got my S2 last summer, the cheapest quote by far was to simply shift my mazda insurance across to the elise and get my wife to insure the mazda (323). That was with privilage.
I got just under £800 with a tracker, the next closest quote was £1200!

I'm (sorry, I was!) 26 with 4 years NCB and a clean licence - based in Glasgow.

despite the worries I think i'll try Adrian Flux this summer, cos I want to mod wheels, induction, exhaust etc - don't think privilage will like that!!

Adrian Flux were the cheapest for me last year, but I had a bad experience when I made a claim so I wouldn't use them again.

I owe a big thanks to callet - I tried www.confused.com at the weekend and reduced my renewal premium by £380 and with a lower excess. I'm sure a lot of insurance companies offer lower premiums to get new business, but when it's as easy as that I'm happy to change every year!

The modding point is a good one though. When I tried ticking the 'yes' box for performance modifications the majority of insurers refused to quote. I guess you have to think ahead a bit what you intend to do with the car in the future.

I also use my car for business use. When I adjusted the data for online quotes with some insurers to include “class 1 business use” the premium was reduced. (Don’t know why) but £50 is £50.

More Than were best for me and they offered full claims discount for my shed.

Right, join SELOC, book up a Walshy day and call Autotorque. With the above they should be able to get you 10-20% discount off the premium for club membership and driver training.

They were best for me this year.
