Experiencing a harsh grinding noise when lifting completely off the accelerator pedal whilst in gear at +2500 rpm.

It is quite a harsh sound.

Is this normal and if so is there anything that can be done to reduce it?

Does it do also when you fast lift the accelerator and then full on it again? a short metall to metall sound???

Not tried that test yet. I dont have the car with me at the moment as i am at work and use a different car to commute.

Once you release the accelerator the noise is loudest in the higher rev bands, then disipates more and more as the revs go down until it disappears at about 2500 rpm. The noise is by far and away the loudest in fifth but detectable in 3rd and 4th once you have done it the first time in 5th

Ok because you drive the S1 I thought maybe pistons/cilinders have to much space? thats why you have to try also when back of the accelerator in lets say 4 gear then at about 1500rpm stamp on the accellerator when you hear the pistons rumble or short heavy metall sound? you could have cilinder/piston wear-out? damage... but'I hope, not...but when you have that you still can drive though, only not that good news..but anyway that would be the worst senario.
Can't hear it from hear so maybe its just something loose on the car try to hear where the noise comes from, out the engine or gearbox or driveshafts?
good luck trying
