My Cup 240 gets delivered next weekend, and so I went down to the dealer today to check on things. The car is there and it looks fabulous, I cannot waiyt to get through the running period and give her a good thrasing, but.......

I was quite surprised to find out the car has a cage, but does not have the seat belt harness bar fitted, this is an additional cost option. What sort of bullshit is this? You buy a track spec car and find that you cannot run it on the track until you finish off the roll cage, I am somewhat amazed. I did not give it a thorough going over, but I also noticed she has standard calipers on the front (single piston) and does not even have 4 pot AP Racing calipers (I thought it did).

I cannot wait to find out what else is missing, I am sure the drive will be great, but for the money I thought simple things like being able to use seat harnesses would have been included.

Anybody else have this experience?

The harnesses now have to be fitted by the dealership rather than at the manufacturer due to regs stating that harnesses cannot be fitted at build. Something to do with SVA I believe, although this should have been pointed out to you when you bougt the car really.

Lotus's idea of 'upgraded brakes' is just Pagid pads and braided hoses....think thats about a £1K option

...you need to read carefully what you are getting for your dosh

Gary - the brakes on my 111s are two pot fronts and single pot rears. I wasn't aware that the ABS equipped cars had single pot fronts.

According to the tech spec on the Lotus website the car should have the harness bar and the harnesses:

Lotus website said:

Safety Specification Exige Cup 240:

4-point harnesses (Black). Note, TRACK USE ONLY. Supplied in the boot for dealer fitment at customer's request.
Standard

BS4 T45 steel roll-over hoop and struts
Standard

BS4 T45 steel A-frame with harness mounts
Standard

Maybe they are waiting to be fitted by your dealer?

Well my 240 cup doesnt have the cage(didnt want it) but it does have the harnesses. the brakes look the same as my standard S2 exige but from the above post it sounds like the pads are the only thing to be changed. Gary from your profile it says you are in Japan. Are you still there? Oh and what colour is your 240? Pics when you get her please.

Yes, In Japan. The car is Storm Titanium (silver/grey). Thanks for the clarification on the brakes, they may well be twopot calipers as I did not look on the inside. I will ask about the harness bar, but they have charged me for the bar (GBP approx 200). Does anybody know if the AP Racing four pot calipers are compatible with the ABS system?

Gary,

I sure don't hope Lotus made the same error on your Exige as they made on the one they produced for me. I ordered a normal Exige, but with the sportspack. The sportspack comes with the t45 roll-over hoop and a crossbarr (for the installation of the 4 points harness. Unfortunatelly they (LOTUS) forgot to install the T45 and simply installed the standard bar. So I refused taking delivery of the car. In order to correct LOTUS are building a NEW CAR, as it was to much work to correct the problem on the already produced car.

So are you sure the installed the right roll-over bar??
