Blips above the 3000rpm maximum

Has anybody been affected by the occasional blip into the 3000+rpm? I keep putting the thing into 3rd instead of 5th by mistake....

Ouch! Third instead of fifth is a great way to break a rod ( at best)!. The Esprit V8 computers ( especially the updated ones) are 'learning' systems - ie: they learn what you do and enter the parameters into the database. The better you drive, the better the performance will be. I had an Esprit that was so badly broken in we had to literally erase the memory and start from scratch.
