There are lots of components used on the Elise that are standard parts Lotus has swiped from other cars (apart from the obvious engine & g/box!). Has anyone complied a list of common parts to help cheaper sources of spares? (as soon as you mention 'Lotus' the price always goes up!). My rad's leaking & I'm sure it's used elsewhere - the question is where?

Cheers,
M. (really should change nickname to 111SSS now)

There are quite a few things mentioned here: www.elises.co.uk/components/index.html

A couple which immediately spring to mind are the wiper mechanism (Citroen AX) and steering column switchgear (various Vauxhall). Also, the electrical connectors for the rear lights in my 07MY have Saab stamped all over them.

I'm not sure but aren't the wingmirrors or mirror mounts from some kind of factory tarted-up Metro?

s1 indicators are from a vauxhall corsa
i think people might want more major parts than these ;-)
the couple of things i have recently bought that are rover parts must literally come out of a rover bag into a lotus one and the price gets tripled immediately.

Start by looking at the Peugeot 106 - it definitely shares those switches.

Other models might as well, but the 106 should be a good starting point and easy to find one that's been binned...

Er, no it doesn't. It's a Rover K-series mate... unless you get the Honda conversion, in which case it's the i-VTEC.

IIRC the door locks are from a Vauxhall parts bin too - Cavalier IIRC.

Well that's odd as my engines got Audi on it?

Useful thread, BTW.

On the S1, not sure about S2, the rear numberplate lights are from Rolls Royce

Also same as 1988 Renault Alliance (or a 1992 front wheel drive Dodge Monaco) according to techwiki on SELOC.

Just a bit more likely to find a Renault than a Viper round my way
