Finally got round to buying a Hurricane for my S1 and, well as the title says WOW, when it gets to 4000rpm it just barks. The combination with the 52mm thottle body and the Larini seems to be perfect.

Went for a quick spin and the wife said she could hear me for about a mile!!! smilesmilesmile

Massive thumbup just s shame I wont be able to drive it again until the weekend frown

IS IT JUST A NOISE BENIFIT YOU GET FROM THE EXHAUST/INDUCTION OR DOES IT IMPROVE PERFORMANCE?

First impressions were that it did feel a little more responsive, but to be honest that could just be wishful thinking!!

Once I get chance to drive it properly next weekend i'll let you know.

I have a hurricane and Stage II fitted - on dyno my car has lost 15bhp at the road.

I take it your exhaust/intake is loud enough to make you go deaf and shout at everyone then?

No, took it off - re-dyno: back up! So yes, it was the hurricane. Pi55er!

Will not bother on the new car next year - just stick a 2bular on it.

Was just considering one a hurricane for my new motor, but I think you may have changed my mind mate. What I do need though is some sort of heat shield and possible ducting as at the moment it just has a K&N filter which must be sucking in loads of hot air.

There's nowt wrong with any of the induction units - I just don't believe that they add bhp. When mine was dyno'd the filter had just been cleaned. I wouldn't take it off the liz because the noise is fantastic and there's still loads of power. You followed me through Northumberland the other week - my car is easily a match for steve's carrera through the twisties.

Wil have a chat with you at the weekend.

Been looking for my dyno results - had one done at Thor Racing with the hurricane - came in at 156, before hurricane = 167, after hurricane removed = 166. That's on an alleged 189 at the fly wheel of my 111r.

Dry Gez - you having heat problems. My s2's got an aftermarket induction (might be K&N but not looked) and I was getting concerned about temperature (many posts on here in recent days), but I'm now convinced its fine, just me being overly cautious with the digital temperature readout.

did you fit it yourself? Have been thinking about putting one on my S1 over the winter but not sure whether to do it myself or have it fitted when it is serviced.

Have had mine for around two years, would not go back! (probably needs cleaning...)

Also fitted 52mm throttle body, much better throttle response and the intake noise is soooo adictive!!biggrin

Easy to fit, only took around an hour. Just need the nice soft blanket to drape over the rear clam while leaning into the engine bay...

Looking at some pics of these fitted, i cant see where it sucks in cold air as i was always under the impression that they work better with cold air being sucked in.

Your right Boobles - normally air is taken from the nearside vent just infront of the rear wheel. Hurricanes come with a little scoop to assist air flow as the opening is perpendicular to the vent - mine was loose so took it off - no perseptible change in performance.
