Hi All

New member to PistonHeads and a new owner of an S1 bog standard Elise. Love it - apart from a very noisy (inconsistently so) front suspension. It clonks over some bumps (mainly low speed) and sometimes makes a chirping noise too. Any ideas? I don't mind if it is supposed too - but I need to make sure.

Thanks

Chirping noise is probably not the suspension, it may be something (like part of one of the clams) rubbing when it moves over bumps, check all the clam retaining screws/bolts . . .

Other than that . . . man, it could be so many things . . .

Again...quite normal for an S1, mine makes a myriad of of strange noises from the front, have to admit the knocking and clunking does p**s me off but the pro's still outweigh the con's by a mile. I think replacing standard shocks with Nitrons is the answer.

Thanks all. Seeing as it seems to go round corners (ohhh yess) and hasn't done a MercLemansFlip over any bumps yet, my mind is now at rest. I am pleased that you all think it is standard.
