I'm sure there must be something in the archives but I couldn't find it. smile

My car (S2 111S) is due an 'A' service and needs a few things done, including fixing the heater fan - I suppose it's the resistor pack so a clam off job. I live in Southampton so as far as I can tell, the options are Esprit Engineering and Sportomotive in Salisbury or Fibreglass Services out the other side of Portsmouth.

Any suggestions as to which will be best (and cheapest) for what will presumably be a fairly labour intensive job?

Cheapest is likely to be Fibreglass Services and TBH I have used them a number of times and never had any issues with them and the work has always been excellent.
Havingsaid that others have reported issues, primarily finding Myles personality abrasive.

Used Sportomotive for my last Service in November and they were very good, but noticiably more expensive, but it saved me the days holiday I have to take going to FS.

Yes, I've heard about Miles' approach to customer service. Can't say that bothers me particularly. smile

I can highly recommend Fibreglass Services. High quality of work yet surprisingly low labour rate.

I actually hang around for the 3-4hrs that he spends doing the A service nd chat with him. It really is enlightening to talk to someone that isnt scared to voice his own opinions, no matter how un-PC others may consider them. (It maybe why I like him, he reminds me so much of me)

Whoever you go to may have trouble sourcing the resistor pack, so I'd look at getting this booked up ASAP if I were you. If anyone can be trusted with a clam-off job it's Miles and at around £35 an hour his rates are excellent

I have also been driving my Escort all over xmas & whilst the drive is superb, its not quite the same fealing as driving an Elise & nothing that i have driven compares to it at all.

i'm based near southampton and have used sportomotive (thumbs up there), Plans Motorsport (thumbs up, but empty wallet), but the best as far as I'm concerned is Lakeside Engineering in Addlestone... sure it's at the top of the M3, but that's only 45mins from Scumpton
