Hoping to pick up an Exige in the next few months, but have to admit know only a small amount about them.

The car will be pretty much exclusivey used for summer weekend blats, track days, and a couple of trips to the 'ring per year.

Spec. wise i'm therefore thinking performance pack rather than touring pack, but with air con. Is there anything else I should be looking for in terms of spec?

Also, what would represent 'good value' for the above spec. @ £20k?

Unless you've already spotted some I think you'll struggle to find anything half decent for £20K right now. Maybe when the '08 model really takes off the early cars will come down in price a bit more.

If you're really thinking pretty much track use only what about an S1?

Dream Machines has a black MY54 plate for 22k and a in Lecester theres an 53 purple Exige but as Tony has said very little about dealership wise.

To go offer slighty what are they changing in 2008 models?

Sounds like your thinking along the right lines , definatly get the performance pack for the twin oil coolers and harnesses if your going to do some track days , I'd say air con is a must and budget 22k .
You won't regret it , great cars.
O , and don't forget red ones are faster wink

There seem quite a few knocking around between £20k and £23k and i figured there has to be some negotiation room in those prices!

If you've spotted a good one for around (or can get for) £20K I'd got for it. Now is the right sort of time to buy and performance pack + aircon is a nice spec. The aircon is a must but I think most people would live without the other bits in the touring pack so shouldn't have any issues on resale.

Is the sports pack the same as the performance pack? See here:-

The performance pack had harnesses fitted IIRC, the sports pack has T45 roll over hoop, TC, Sports Seats (with harness holes) and Harness bar to mount the harnesses if you want to add them.

The car in the link has the Super touring pack with Airbags, I think there was some issue around fitting harnesses to an airbag car, as the ECU was looking for a seatbelt signal (for pre-tensioners), could be dreaming though...

There was a thread on here about this the other day, on later models the sports pack didn't contain harnesses and im not sure if it had the oil coolers which is the most important part as these are very costly to retro fit . Best to make certain before buying .

Agreed. Twin oil coolers and harnesses are a must for what I want the car for.

Twin oil coolers still come with the sports pack, but harnesses dont.

Your looking at around the £360-£400 mark to fit driver and passenger harnesses.
