Hi All,

Picking up my Exige S in a week or so and just finalising the insurance details. My insurance company require me to have a tracker fitted to be covered against theft! This happend last time with my old S2 Elise and i just ended up getting a Tracker Monitor as it was easy.
Any suggestions on other brands etc that might be as good and save me a bit of cash?? Think the Tracker monitor is £249 + Fitting + Annual subscription. Any ideas??

P.S Either that or can someone recommend an insurance company that doesn't require a Tracker to be fitted (have tried AON, but im under 30 so they won't insure me!!)

Thanks

theres a whole list of insurers on SELOC that dont required Trackers - its only the minority that do...generally the ones that are owned by the same group that own Tracker funnily enough...the Elise is one of the least risk cars for theft !

When I was insured with Privy they insisted on a Tracking system for just about anything with a high insurance group. So I got an RAC Trackstar fitted. When I moved to A-Plan they it was a bonus but not a requirement. Not that I'm making any recommendation (not until I get my first renewal quote).

I dont whether this helps but i got a quote from Elephant.com (phoned up thou) for a Elise and Exige and was told neither needed a tracker fitted and my insurance qutoe came out under £1300 which i thought wasnt too bad as im still 23.

Priv who im with atm said they wouldnt touch me till im 25 and even then needed it to be garaged with a tacker so two extremes really?

I'm with Competition Car Insurance (Egger Lawson) - At the age of 27 for me a tracking system was not a requirement for the policy but having one fitted saved me over £300 on what the premium would have been without a tracker fitted smile That £300 saving meant i could put the £££ towards a stage 2 exhaust biggrin

DO NOT GO WITH TRACKER - they are a bunch of useless, time wasting, dithering idiots.

I had a Horizon fitted to my Elise from the day of collection, after 2 months I receive a letter from tracker asking me for the annual subscription payment. I called them and explained that the tracker subscription was paid in full on the day of collection and that the activation document was faxed to them on the same day.

They were adamant that I had not paid and I was forced to fax over a bank statement showing the transaction, at this point I was told that they had lost the original fax activation and would need to fax it AGAIN. More worryingly is that the tracker was not active on my car for the period they screwed up.. so no active tracker .. no insurance against theft.

Another fine example of their good work is when I was going away on holiday. I called them to have a family members contact details added to my account. They did manage to add the family member and a few days later they called them asking them for a annual subscription payment as they though they were the new owner of the car !!!

One last gripe.. just try to call the customer services number, see how long it takes to get through. When I was with the I think their personal best was about 6 minutes.

Seriously, bunch of time wasting useless twonks.... have a look at the RAC system apparently that is cheaper and is insurnace friendly.

I support this view too. I've had similar experience at renewal and guess I wasn't covered. IF they can't deal with simple administration then god help us when we need to recover a stolen vehicle. Avoid at all cost.
