Hi.

Does anybody have an Elise Ball joint removal tool that i can either buy or borrow from them?? I'm about to do all the ball joints on my car and i just thought i'd see if i could avoid buying one at full price from Elise Parts.

Cant think when i'd use it again after i've done all 8 so seems a little daft to fork out £48 for one.

Thanks! smile

Hi Dixie - after recently doing the 4 front ball joints on my S1, I'd recommend you buy your own - some of ours needed an enourmous amount of force to break the seal and get them out - and that was using a 10 ton hydraulic bench press. If you borrow the elise parts tool from someone else, then you might be lucky and it'll work just fine, but sods law is that you'll break/damage it and have to buy a replacement anyway.
I guess it all depends on how wedged your current ball joints are, and what timeframe you've got to do the job in (incase you need a replacement)

We got our press off ebay and it cost about £120 - not bad considering it should do the job perfectly and shouldn't break then you can flog it on afterwards.

Hope that's not too much doom & gloom!

I've got one... trouble is I'm a fussy git when it comes to looking after tools so how are you going to persuade me to go into the hire business?

Are all the tools the same or are some better than others, got to do mine soon and have been looking around, seen a couple of versions of the tool.

The later Eliseparts one is much better.
