2 unrelated and totally random questions

1. I know how easy it is to spin a car on a corner after doing a Walshy day. Back end starts to wander, correct it or end up facing the other way. My question is, say you are cornering left - in the above oversteer situation the back would come out to the right (from the driver's position) and the car spins anti-clockwise - is it possible to UNDERsteer so badly that the front comes out to right and the car spins clockwise? What sort of situation/conditions (if any) would be needed for this to happen?
2. Has anyone gone on second cam in 6th gear in a 111R/Exige. What sort of speed are you going and what happens then - does it stop accelerating?
Just wondering

1) No. Not unless you are so monumentally incompetent/unlucky that you shouldn't be behind the wheel. The worst that you should be able to achieve with understeer is to go forward in a perfectly straight line, and even that will happen only if the front wheels are completely 'locked' (ie. not rotating at all) while the rear wheels are still pushing you forward. If you were dumb enough to floor the throttle whilst in severe understeer, you might be able to push the car into an opposite-direction spin, if you were unlucky about which rear wheel had the most grip, but it's pretty unlikely.
2) I've never done it, but it should be easy enough to work out the speed at which it will theoretically happen; simply multiply the revs at which the second cam kicks in by the overall gearing (mph/1000rpm) in 6th gear. Whether the car will do it in reality depends on whether it has enough power to overcome the aero drag and rolling resistance at that speed... interesting question, though, since it raises the possibility that the transition might be pronounced enough that the car could pull a higher speed 'on cam' but couldn't actually pull through the 'off cam' speed range to get there; a bit like going 'over the hump' in a hydroplane.

As 2nd cam kicks in at 6200 rpm with the standard ECU and the ratio for 6th gear is about 19.5mph/1000rpm - if my memory serves me correctly - that would mean 2nd cam kicking in above 121 mph in top gear. The speedo indication would probably be a little in excess of 125mph, though. From experience on my (cough) private three laned motorway, the acceleration slows markedly once you change into 6th at those sorts of speeds, even with 2nd cam engaged. The Elise's Cd value is not particularly impressive and I suppose the engine lacks ultimate grunt to overcome the significant wind resistance.

Not sure but I've span both my previous R's both on the road and at Walshy's fairly easy, I also managed to do a 360 up at Hethal with Alistair McQueen sitting next to me

It stop's pulling at about 125 - 135 you don't really notice the engine's 2nd cam kicking in so much (On a private road)

I've had it in 2nd cam in 5th briefly (not on a public road I hasten to add) and the speedo was reading 145 at somewhere above 7000 RPM - I didn't dare look down for long. That won't be actual 145 MPH, but it felt unbelievably fast in such a small car so low to the ground (with the roof off)
