Should you be able to fit a 111R battery to a 2002 120BHP K Series S2?

I have a flat battery in my k series car and thanks to the generosity of a fellow pher have a battery from a 111R to fit following his recent upgrade to an Exige S as he had it in his garage and helped me out! Mine had simply expired.

I ask as I just fitted it but the car was completely dead. I don thave a volt meter to check if the transplanted battery is flat too so was curious if its just not compatible before I go and get one tomorrow?

Cheers in advance

Should be fine. A 12V car battery is a 12V car battery... provided it fits, it's 'compatible'.

Are you sure your previous battery had expired? If for instance, it was a corroded/loose connection at the engin bay end of the main battery cables, you could fit all the fresh batteries in the world ant the car will still remain dead!

Providing it can also provide the right current don't forget, not all 12V batteries are created equal smile

Near enough, they are... I can't conceive of a healthy battery rated for a 1.8 Toyota 16 Valve struggling to turn over a 1.8 Rover 16 valve.

If you were trying to use a Reliant Robin battery to start a TVR griffith, then fair enough....

Thanks - will get hold of a voltmeter and check the transplant battery. Mine had definitely expired, had been jump starting it over Xmas after it had run flat from lack of use...

i am not sure a simple voltmeter (multimeter) will tell you if the transplant battery is good, you need a proper battery tester. This is put across the terminals and shows the power output.

either you take the battery out, put it on charge for a suitible time, then put it in the car and try it. If it works great but then leave it connected then try again after a few days, that will tell you if the battery is ok- well, the diy way!
