111R Headlight bulb replacement
Discussion
Standard headlight on a 54 plate 111R.
Any ideas what the bulb is and how easy it is to replace. Seem to remember something about having to go in through the wheel arch and removing the liner. Anyone able to confirm/deny and know how easy/difficult it is.
I know I should just look at the owners manual, but I am at work and need to get the bulb on the way home. Thanks all

I have seen my dealer poping the lights off from the front. He removed the front grid and delicately but firmly (and blindly) with a screwdriver release the all light.
Maybe someone esle in the group who did it itself could add some comments.
Ps: Thanks for the kind words in the other post

Can you get away with just turning the wheel into the car, or does it HAVE to come off ?
It will be a lot harder to work on if ou leave the wheel on. I think 10 mins is a bit optimistic. No one has mentioned type of bulb yet, any ideas ?

In the past I always had issues matching bulb brightness if I replaced one bulb. I know, in theory, they should be the same irrespective of manufacturer but doesn't seem to be the case. If you're fussy like me it might be worth changing both and keeping the good one as a spare.
A couple of people on SELOC gave these great reviews, other said they were crap. I might give them a whiz unless you want to try them first?

I just replaced my bulbs on my 111R (2005 model). When I say I, I actually mean Plans when it was in for a service !
The manual in the boot stated that my dipped beam requires a H1 55W bulb. Listed the other type of bulbs for side lights and full beams too. I wanted to improve the light without going the whole way to HIDs. Plans fitted some xenon bulbs, appear a lot brighter, plus the use of xenon help to keep me in a job.
What made a bigger difference was re-aligning the lights, the factory appeared to have set them so low that they didn't even register on the MOT testing rig. I can now see further than 10 metres infront and the light is brighter although no where near as good as HIDs.
