Dear Friends,

I first want to thank the members of the forum I enjoyed talking to these last years. It was a pleasure to discuss about our cars and to meet some of them on the track.

As you know I crashed my 111R in october and that happend while I was thinking changing car. I had the feeling that the modification I did on my beloved Lotus were too much track oriented and that I did not use it enough in normal life (3 kids, few private moments due to work, no sense to go to work in the Lotus...)

So I redefined my need and come to the conclusion that I will have to quit the Lotus community.
I know VERY WELL that I will NEVER find such a nice chassis, such a sense of control of the car, such a level of performance (for the price) but my hope is that usability will compensate for the loss of driving feeling.

I tried the 997 C4S, the Boxster S (just for fun as I want a 4 seater) and the new M3.

My choice goes to the BMW. This is heavy (1655 kg) but with 420 bhp and RPM till 8400 on the V8, it is a very nice double face car. Really civilised in shape and usability and also very strong above 5000rpm.
Having tried twice, I do not find 50% of the feeling of the road I had with the Lotus but that is the price to pay and I can't afford a GT3 RS or a lambo.... I think I will need to learn the reaction of the M3 over the next months as I did with the elise at the beginning

So if I was reading another guy posting this a while ago , I would think "What a shame" but now that I am in this situation all I can tell is "I REALLY appreciate the Lotus experience but want something else for the moment."

Thanks again to all

Benoît

Benoit, its been a pleasure reading your posts over the years, thank you for all of your advice.
Dont be a stranger, keep the posts coming, even though you no longer have the Elise, the knowledge you have built up will be invaluable to us novices.

Hope the Beemer puts a smile on your face

As already said, no need to disappear completely! The new M3 is one hell of a good car, I had one of the old ones for a couple of years and looked at the new one. Just couldn't justify £50K on what amounts to a third car. Maybe if I could convince my wife to give up her X5 wink

Sure you'll have many happy miles.

May be leaving lotus ownership but leaving the group? That doesnt end with the sale of the car...

Good luck with the new wagon.

Goodluck, enjoyed reading your posts.

Hope the BMW works out for you, although I am sure you'll be back in a lotus someday.

I don't want to leave the group but except to moderate judge some extreme comments I think the topics are done by and for owners driving

Now I am really afraid yikes

As the other say, you don't have to leave us. But is having a 4th car really such a big issue? (ok Mrs FW says it is but don't listen to her, she lies)
