Im due to renew my insurance on my S2 Exige, however I was just wondering if any of you had had particularly good quotes from anyone in particular? Im 24 and currently with Admiral and have 4 yrs no claims, however the renewal came in slightly higher than I expected. Im not overly fussed about trackday insurance but if it was included it’s a bonus (though Im not expecting this after I got a quote for insuring some of my racing bits eek ) Also, they assure me that insurance cannot be issued to me that covers me third party on other cars by them or anyone else until I am 25, however a broker insists that this is not the case. (He failed to point me in the direction of someone who could and since I was in a rush I forgot to ask!) Does anyone have any experience of this? Im currently insured on a few other cars and the price starts to build up quickly (Not for me though!). Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've just gone through re-insurance, would recommend Chris Knott. Basically they said they'd knock 10% off the cheapest quote i could get. Worth a call.

Also worth giving A Plan a call (sticky at the top of this forum IIRC).

Currently policy includes emgine mods, 3 yrs ncd, 3 non-fault accidents and 2 speeding tickets for less than £400. Seemed pretty fair to me.

Got mine insured through CCI / Egger Lawson as they insured a Caterham i used to own - bar far the best premium cost wise as well as value for money (included trackdays) plus the RAC Trackstar i fitted got the premium down by a good £300 biggrin

MoreThan have always been quite amazing on my S1, although I am 40 and have full NCD...180 quid fully comp.

BUT...I was gatsoed at 35 mph and ran a dummy quote to get the new price....they would not insure me anymore! Fortunately, the police lost the file or something, case closes out in 2 weeks and I have heard nothing at all since returning the NIP.

So they only seem to want 'clean' drivers. May still be worth running a quote, though.

PS If you do, go through moneysupermarket.com or other engines - they get better new customer only rates. Another 20 quid off for me doing this.

Elephant have always been good for me as a young driver (22 with four years no claims) and I'm also insured third party on other cars subject to them being insured fully comp by someone else. Adding my mother as a named driver brought down the quote by a few hundred pounds too.

Excellent thanks, I tried CCI and Autotorque both of whom wouldnt insure me, I then tried Adrain Flux who passed me around to various people, and one of these people started passing me around...2 hours later the best quote I had got was 1900 and I had gone full circle and back to Adrian Flux again! Not amused frown I will try Chris Knott at lunchtime I think, I have had a renewal notice from admiral coming in at 900 which isnt too bad but it would be nice to get it down a bit! Might try elephant too. Cheers for the help guys.

Definitely try Chris Knott. Their quote for me was ridiculously cheap compared to nearly all the others I was getting. They were also extremely friendly and helpful which is something that can't be said of many insurers.

Just tried chris knott…as helpful as the guy was and he obviously went to a great deal of effort to hunt about for a cheap deal for me, he still couldn’t beat my renewal quote with admiral. Apparently its due to my ‘inexperience with high performance cars’ shame they don’t consider that iv held a race licence for the past 12 years…INFURIATING furious lol

I tried A plan and they wouldn't insure me as I'm under 30.

Wasn't impressed, as I thought this age thing stopped @ 25.

Yup, seconded. 600 quid sounds a lot, but for all of us claiming on the insurance for damages less than 1500-2000 pounds is a no-no anyhow, as they hike that amount back, on average, if you claim and it is your fault or they can't get the monies back.

Im with A-Plan and am 29, Chris Knott wouldnt insure me due to lac of sports car experience.
