What is wrong with that?
Seloc are a bunch of winging barstewards. So you have a well specked Exige with all the extras plus a nice paint job AND £3k off the price.

Pretty car, nice speck and great price.

I would love the news to be the release of the Eagle but in the absence of that release, a well specked ltd edition is fine.

I'm all for a well specked Exige S with option's but all these limited edition's? how are they limited when they produce so many?

It's taking the p*ss and a embarassment to the 'Sprint' tag, which could be used for a stripped-out range rather than the paint job, which suits an Elan far more than the Exige. How's it going to sprint with all that tat? I saw a bit of the poster for this at the Autosport show and feared the worst.

Anyone for any more Chapman family silver?

P.S You post up a few moans from time to time, Gooby wink

Only seems like 6 months since the last LE - the Club Racer....and what a colour scheme that had, and some of those are still for sale.

I gotta be honest, I dont think its too bad! (tho I guess I'm a bit biased)

I guess I'm gonna get lynched if I ever build the Honda'd S1 Exige 'type 49' ive been thinking about then!

Before all the purists get overly excited and spill their ale all down their beards, lets not forget the Elan 'sprint' tag was applied to several models, the vast majority of which were not stripped out lighweights, but slightly higher powered derivatives with different gearing, argueably just like the elise 111s models and Supercharged Exiges.

As for ripping in to Lotus for producing lots of different 'limited edition' paint jobs, thats something of a 'Chapman Silver' hallmark isn't it??! he'd fob the public off with anything as long as it flogged more road cars and paid for him to go racing!

Each to their own biggrin

I wasnt moaning - I am all in favour.
There is ltd editions type 25's, 23's, 49's, JPS etc. The cars look great and are a pleasure to see on the road. A great celebration of the heritage and as Lotus no longer race (apart from gt1 or whatever) then celebration of thier racing heritage is an excelent marketing ploy.

The bottom line is Lotus have been bringing out Ltd editions for ever and what you have here is a great speck 'zige with a great paint job at a great price.

When I baught mine, there were no ltd editions and I spent an extra £7k getting the car how I wanted, now it would be closer to £10k. Then the sport racer came out with the speck (more or less) that I had paid for and £3k off. I would have been giggling at that cost.

Those who but the car will be getting a great car at a great price. Those who dont want it, um... dont have to buy it!

I really dont understand the grumbles.

I saw a leaflet in lipscombs the other day and was surprised nothing had been mentioned. It is *another* limited edition but I don't mind it; I'm "nothing" to it, if you know what I mean?!

I'm with Gooby and Jez on this one (suprise suprise) why do Lotus fans moan when Lotus bring out a limited edition car in a historic colour scheme with more spec for less money?

As mentioned, Lotus have been producing limited edition colour schemes forever and people love them.

Why are you moaning?

I could go on.........

But they're doing this every 6 months and to be honest, not only does it cheapen the brand but it also reminds everyone that they have nothing else to sell.

It's been mentioned on SELOC already, bring out a 'Sprint' range where the cars are completely stripped out. Elise Sprint 140, 190 and Supersprint plus perhaps an Exige Supersprint (the Cup is marketed as a racer, anyway). Sell it alongside the plusher versions and the bases are covered.

Then leave the range alone and concentrate on the Eagle and Esprit. How many special editions do Porsche bring out?

It looks like an upside down vanilla slice. A vanilla slice is a cake that is sold in Sayers the Bakers in Merseyside for those of you that dont know but like cakes.

I like it, but they are taking liberties by not stripping it out and it just being a different paint job. If they'd stripped it out, then I think it would probably sell more.

But they have done. It is called the 2eleven.
It doesnt get more track day than that.

Then you have a choice of elises varying from 140bhp to 220bhp and you can speck them any way you like the zige goes from 190bhp to 256 and has any track speck you could like. FOR GODS SAKE - this is your usual moan and you obviously have not looked at any literature to back it up. If it isnt available in the standard "packs" then lotus sport will supply the parts or even do the mod if you like. The specification packs are so good you can go from hardcore track focus to a reasonably comfortable tourer. Time to get a new arguement.

With you on that. Its the only way Lotus would prise me away from my S1 (and the 2-11 isn't really all weather usable Goobytongue out)
