Discussion
Decision has been made, I am going to get an S2 Elise with a Honda donkey in the back. Does the Honda (with S/C eventually) mean there's zero boot space, or do you still get a cubby hole? Are there Honda conversion kits to avoid, or are they all as good as one another?
Ideally the car will have quite a few tasty mods done with a nod towards tracking it, e.g. suspension, brakes, tyres, etc.
I will be driving at night, is it worth getting a HID system fitted?
It doesn't seem many S2 Elises (earlier ones) have aircon, but it would be nice to have it.
The plan is to get one with a view to fitting a S/C kit on it, at £4k they seem too good value to miss out on.
The looking begins in earnest, so any advice is appreciated. I will be looking to buy in around March. (Current insurance runs out then, and its with Admiral, who will want to sting me for a heavily modified car... but I want my extra year NCB!)

boot space is the same...in fact theres actually more room in the engine bay than with the orginal K series
you cant have aircon with the Honda install
depends where you live for installers, but the majority in the UK are www.hondaelise.com dealers, with a couple of independant offerings in the North. Maidstone Sportscars in Kent were one of the first commercial installers so have done the most. Id just go to the one nearest to you in case you have any niggles that need sorting out after.
HIDs well worth having as the OEM lights are poor - do the dip beams as a minimum
Theres a limited list of insurers that will cover the car with an engine change - see HondaElise.com for a list...most are no more expensive than a regular car, but they understand the product

from what i've read the I-vtec from the integra is slightly more powerfull than the vtec from the civic type R ... although it has been known that I talk out of my arse after midnight
They both have I-VTEC. It's the system that allows the intake cam to be adjusted in the ECU map. Huge gains to be had by tuning.
Here's a tune I did...

notice the huge gains in midrange torque..
