I have just ordered a Lotus Sport sun strip for my S1 Elise, the car is red. I ordered a Black one with Silver writing.

What do people think of these? Anyone got one? Do they help keep the sun out of your eyes? Do they look good or tacky?

Any opinions welcome

Nick

They do keep the sun out of your eyes (although a tall driver will no longer be able to see where they're going).

They look awful.

I'm a short arse so that is ok.

I'm worried about the look as well, so I will see whats its like. If its is awful then it will be getting peeled off!!!!

What is wrong with a pair of sunglasses?
A sun strip is OK for a racing car but it looks tacky on a road car.

I find it uncofortable on track with a pair of sunglasses and a crash helemt, thats really why I'm getting it.

Agreed that it maybe a little tacky for the road, I dont really use the car on road anymore so its not too big an issue.

LOL sorry Kevin. It was the first name that came to my mind. Kevin is a very nice name actually.........rolleyes
My real name isnt Patrick by the way. For those who were at their peak during the 80`s and can rememebr Hue and Cry will realise that the lead singer was called Patrick Kane. I never give out my real name on these type of forums, far too many weirdos!!laugh

Smoked visor for your helmet or a strip of tape on your visor?

I have a black S1 and I fitted a solid black sun strip. I'm quite short so it keeps the sun out good for me. I think the car looks sleaker with it on as well. I dont think I would want one with writting / graphics on though...

The solid black ones cost less than £10 so if you dont like it, just take it off...

Iv got one fitted to my chrome orange Exige S2. Looks the nuts in my opinion, maybe more suitable on an exige rather than an elise tho?!

Its a bit tricky to fit, I think it would be worth putting it in place, then leaving it an hour or so for it to dry slightly before you start trimming, otherwise it just slides about too much. I would also push out teh worst of any air bubbles first, then finish it off after leaving it an hour or so and trimming, miles easier! smile
