Sorry.

Does anyone have any insurance recommendations? I've just had my renewal through and it's up by 30% to £910 (40 with full no claims, rural area), though to be fair I did change to a new S a few months ago.

I've pulled the list of insurers off a previous post but it's taking about 3/4 an hour per call, so I'm looking for a shortcut :-(

just renewed mine last week, got it through at 1440 for renewal then tried a company called cci competition car insurance.... I neally passed out on the floor..... £375 fully comp, all mods declared and free track day insurance. fkucking brilliant ! you have to be in a car club to get a discount and must have driven a sports car for at least a year. btw Im 28 and keep it in the garage, my milage is also limited to 5000 and I upped the excess to £750 ( It wouldnt be worth claiming on anything less than 3 grand anyway... with the loss of no-claims)

good luck ( I'll have a stella please thumbup)

£910 with full no claims? Any points etc? They're having a laugh if you're clean license and no claims in past 5 years. Mine is only £1075 with 3 years NCB, Class 1 business use on an R and I'm 26, I'm with Elephant. Try Chris Knott though, recommend to me by several people (no good for me, as I'd no prior experience with such a car).

For sure. I gave them a call to 'discuss' but they were having non of it. I'll follow up with the eventual winner but I've knocked off £200 already.

Try perfomanc car insurance 0161 278 5226 they have a modern classic package limited milage no bussiness use but no need for any NCB (good if its a second car) they were about 1/2 price of any other quote.

Peart 0870 240 2972 are supposed to be OK but never used personally.

Tesco were OK 1st year but put £150 on when it came up for renewal - lucky I checked on thier own web site where I found out about the renewal hike. Ring them up and they offerd to renew at the quoted price! (the renewal letter gives lots of shmoose about no need to do anything we will jusst renew at this competitive price....) I am no longer with Tesco! If any one is worried that this is slander I will be happy to provide copies of Tesco's documentation.

Lots of brokers will offer Chaucer who look like they are major players in sports cars (but you cant go direct).

Hi chaps.....a new convert here, as I'm trading in the TVR Chimaera on Saturday for a type 72 S2! Anyway, back on topic, try Hagerty specialist insurance. Age 33, 6 points and £200 fine for speeding, no NCB as I am a company car driver. Fully comp ( limited to 5000 miles per year ).....£295! Unfortunately , only available if the lotus is not a daily driver but if you are in a similar position to me ( i.e. company car / weekend toy or you have a daily "hack" etc. ) you can't beat these guys! Phil there is a complete petrol-head and can't do enough for you! Insurance is underwritten by Allianz AND they guarantee the agreed value of your car for the year ( should the worst happen ) if you provide them with Photos of your P&J.

HTH.

I hunted around a while back, Chris Knott promised they would beat any quote but would only do it for over 25's, since Im 24 this wasnt much use!

I rang up my existing insurer (Admiral) and told them they were too high, and they reduced teh quote by 20%!

I rang adrian flux etc who were as good as useless, I just got passed around endlessly, and after 2 hours I ended up back with adrian flux again. Totally hopeless in my opinion. furious

In the end I used www.gocompare.com and Esure came up at about £450 (half price, and about £250 better than the best phone quote I've had) The excess was a little high at £600 but given the saving I'll probably go with it.

Sainsburys & Halifax also scored quite well for me.

Anyone used Esure before ?

Kelly and I are with A-Plan and it's £1075 but only because she's 29 smile

Will have to have a good hunt around later this year for better quotes.

NEVER Ever just take a renewal quote. They will always push it up and hope people just pay. Its well worth a shop around each year. I used to use Adrian Flux when I have a modified Mazda. I had to send some photos to show what I had done, but the quote was worth it. Lately I have just had "normal" cars, so have been using More Than & Kwik Fit, but once I get my trackday E36 ready to use I will prob give Flux a call again. Limited Mileage policies are always a good idea too.

I'm with CCI this year, was A Plan then Adrian Flux the year before that.

CCI was cheapest this year but then i did turn 26! But they also included 3 free trackdays cover although your not covered 3rd party on other cars which is a bit of a pain!

Hegarty were really cheap for me. Sport 160, 27 years old, no no claims on this policy (got them on another car), 3 points, had a crash last xmas and when my renewal came through, it had gone down!! Never thought that would happen.....
