new tyers for S1
Discussion
I use Dunlop SP9000 195/50R15 front and 225/45R16 rear. Road orientated, great wet and dry tyre
For dry track days i use the Dunlop Direzza DZ02 195/55R15 front and 225/56R16 rear. Awesome dry tyre, competent (for a track tyre) in the damp. Needs a few laps to get hot this time of year though!

And funnily enough, now I've sold my Elise, my Direzzas (with just 50 track miles) and the recently refurbished alloys are for sale.

I have Toyo R888s on the rear. Event Mobile Tyres came to my house and fitted them. I'd have stayed with Yokohama A048 that came with the car but they didn't have them.
Both these tyres are soft (so they don't last too long) with shallow tread so they probably aquaplane more easily than others. They both look great.
I'd recommend either tyre as they are fantastic on a dry trackday and better than you might think in the wet. Don't expect them to work in deep puddles.
The service from Event Mobile Tyres was very good.

Toyo R1s, fitted 2 weeks ago.
£305.50 for all 4 fitted and balanced at Sportmotive which I thought was pretty good.
Chris are they the new R1-Rs? (Sort of road friendlier 888. I didn't think they were available till towards the end of the year.£305.50 for all 4 fitted and balanced at Sportmotive which I thought was pretty good.
Top choice at the mo for the S1 is the Yoko Advan Lts from your friendly local Lotus dealer or specialist like Eliseparts.
A bit cheaper and fine when they settle down (take about 1,000 miles) are the Toyo T1-R. They work particlarly well in the wet.If you use them on track you will find that they bead up quite badly though. If you have a search through Seloc threads you'll find people are also trying various other tyres from Khumo and Hankook and also Dunlop.
I don't rate the T1-Rs as highly as the late, lamented BFG G force profilers but as an all round road tyre they work pretty well. Just be prepared to accept some loss of steering directness and precision, initially as a result of tread blocks moving around and then due to squishy sidewalls. Incidently I initially set the T1-Rs at 24/26 front rear as I had my BFGs but ended up with 22/24. Once they where very well run in I went back up to 24/26!!

So, on a squishy tyre, you went lower on the pressures?? Interesting theory..I run 26/28 on the Toyo's. For me, this is the ideal balance driving mainly on the road and also worked well on track.
Several people on SELOC have recommended the Kumho Ecsta sport KU 31, I have just ordered a set (supply only) from Camskill for £176, a bargain if they are as good as people say.
There was a S1 111S and a VX turbo on the LOT Activity Day on Friday who had these on and neither were hanging about.

Sorry to hi-jack the OP's thread, but same topic of conversation! Can anyone suggest some decent all weather road tyres (Not track) for the Elise S1? I would love some A048's, but I think they'd kill me in the wet!
Yoko do a tyre called the C drive, they are the ones to fit

It might be that lowering the pressure a bit (on the fronts in particular) meant that the movement of the tread blocks seemed less obvious due to the sidwalls feeling a bit more elastic through the steering.
Seems an odd way of dealing with the sidewalls issue but it worked for me and I wish I could remember where I got the idea from!
Anyway tyre pressures aren't cast in stone. Different cars will have their suspension in different condition and, indeed, be using different suspension. Then take into account different driving styles and personal preferences etc, etc.....
