Hi all my elise is on an 02 plate with 24k. Ive had no trouble with radiator so far. So what iam asking is has anyone else had a elise that is this old then an 02 car and had no trouble with there radiator or do you think i should change it for an all aluminium one. If so what sort of price will i be looking at if i get a garage to do this work for me

Wait for it to go bang, there's no point replacing it before.

Unless you are already taking off the front clam i wouldnt bother. I would wait til it goes pop or your fan gives up the ghost if i were you! :-)

At the moment treat it like a sore dick,
don't fuk with it.

You can say fuk or fook but you can't say .

I was quoted £600 for a all aluminium replacment . mine went at 26k on a 01 plate.
Ended up buying one from eliseparts & doing a DIY job .

My radiator suddenly failed and sent all the coolant over the windscreen. It took maybe 10 seconds to clean the screen using wiper and squirter, before I could see out of the windscreen again. By luck I was on a nearly empty and straight road.
The plastic end to the radiatior had suddenly split open. There was no significant leek before, I had checked the level of coolant in the header tank before I set off.
The car is 4 years old in April and just comming up to 20k miles.

I would advise the change if your rad has the plastic sides.

Slightly different question from me. I need to take the clam off to do something else anyway... should I fit an all ally radiator while I'm under there?

If so, is the high performance one off eliseparts.com worth the extra 100 quid on a completely standard car (2004 111S)?

If you can spare the price of a new radiator then go ahead (you may want to replace the fan at the same time, too). For your car I have the same and was recommended the standard flow unit - the high-flow one is intended for forced induction cars.

There's a slight difference between being able to afford it and wanting to afford it wink
