Noticed my rad fan is on all the time. Is this switched on by a sensor or by the ECU? Any suggestions on propable cause/solution

Thanks

Hi Mark,

Fan is determined by the temperature sensor. If this is unplugged from the sensor at all the ECU automatically turns the fan on as a safeguard, perhaps it's come unplugged or the wire has worn through somewhere.

Hi guys.

Just as an update and any ideas you may have on the continuing fan running issue before i service the S1.

I have noticed the following regarding the rad fan running:-

1. starting from cold rad fan is off
2. as soon as "Stack" shows a temperature (circa 42DegC) fan starts and runs continuously until stopping (short journey).
3. after a long run i can pull up with engine running and at normal temperature (85 DegC) everthing seems normal - i.e fan off. But after running again and comming to a stop fan is running continuously

I have tried resetting the ECU but not change

Ideas of possible soloution please ??

Thanks

Mark

ECU temo senders buggered (or the wiring to it)

(it's the brown one, NOT the blue/Black one)
