battery warning light

hi guys, battery light has come on and stays on. battery fine,starts well and seem to be charging ok.any ideas? s1,yr2000. any help gratefully received. thanks in advance.

When you say seems to be charging, have you tested this and seen a around 13.4v + across the battery ? The light being on would suggest the alternator has failed. It could just be a broken wire on the alt.
Check to see what battery voltage is with the engine running and go from there. This is pretty common on the S1 and as such there's a ton of similar posts on seloc.org on this.
