Right ... Simple enough! I love the rawness, the flowing curves and the sound of my current S1. However whenever I pass an S2 on the roads I can't help but notice the sharper, more aggressive styling, which does look rather nice ...

So I'd be trading in my S1, spending a large chunk of extra cash on a newer car and I'll be paying marginally more for insurance.

Someone persuade me against getting an Ardent Red S2! wobble

You said it yourself: you love the rawness and flowing curves. If, of course, you've gone a bit ghey and want a "comfortable" car with hairdresser styling then please go ahead and get an S2.

Will that do ? biggrin

S1 - original and best, you'll be wanting traction control and cup holders next.

- spend the extra on a Honda conversion

But you will still look a little 'twee' in your S1.

Every time I'm tempted I ask myself 'would you have more fun?' I've never answered 'Yes!'.

To be serious...

I purchased an S1 specifically because I wanted the raw feeling of the original car. Perhaps you were the same? For me, purely personally, the S2 goes that bit too far towards a "sensible" car whereas the S1 is just the right compromise between a "sensible" car and a Caterfield loon machine. I don't want A/C or leccy windows or carpets or, God forbid, ABS or cup holders. If I wanted all those things I would have spent the money on a Mk3 MX-5 or something.

Each to their own, but ask yourself why you bought an Elise in the first place and in particular an S1. As has been suggested, you can make a lot of improvements to your S1 for the extra you would spend on the S2.

IMO nothing looks better than an S1 in S160 guise. Raised rear spoiler, maybe a front splitter, some Victory alloys, and a hard top to finish the look.

There was a bootiful blue one at Castles on saturday and I was jealous frownbiggrin

Keep the S1. The original and the best.

FACT: You like the S1's rawness and curvaceous styling.

FACT: You want a little more sharpness and aggression.

Yes it must be terrible going to a more modern looking car & miss all the fun of spending hours putting the softtop on & having a much nicer cabin & better suspension wink

You can still get raw S2's. A 135r would be a good option..

Just add Honda S/C to the above and the job is done.

Give me time.... just give me time wink

Actually, no.. the above one will probably stay original.... thankfully they've not yet passed laws preventing one from owning multiple Exiges / Loti smile

As usual a large amount of guff from s1 drivers. S2- the car the elise should always have been. This time it is right, it is good.

I can not however justify (financially) changing from a s1 to s2. But I cant financially justify buying any Lotus.

let's keep things simple...

if you like men's bottoms - buy an S2
if you like a the feel of a good woman - buy an S1

next question?
