Just wanted to share some info on great customer service…

I'm in the process of shipping my Elise to Australia & before doing so I wanted to get the car checked over and a few changes made to make the vehicle Australian Market spec... Chosen Lotus Specialist for this was Brooke Kensington.

I'm already in Australia and had to rely on phone calls and emails to arrange everything but I have to say, it went exceptionally well from start to finish mostly down to the organisation and professionalism from the guys at Brooke Kensington.

My car was picked up (by transporter) from storage and taken to their workshops, all work was carried out in time and every effort was made to get everything done, right down to sourcing difficult parts like a new KPH speedo & Australian spec exterior door mirrors… as they have knowledge and experience of shipping vehicles they even did a few extra things to make sure the vehicle would be protected (sill protectors etc).

Overall – would highly recommend ‘BK’ for work, Simon is knowledgeable and very helpful so if your thinking of getting things done, well worth giving them a call and discussing the options, you’ll get an honest and reliable answer in my opinion… not too pricey either which is always a bonus.

If you haven't found them already, check them out, I was very pleased...

which state are you shipping to since the regulations are state run not federal? interesting that you swapped for a kmh speedo, all advice I have had says its not necessary. I spoke with Lee Knappet in Sydney where they have riduculous regs and he said he has seen loads of Liz's ship in from the UK "as is"

I’m in NSW, I think most states have a similar 'base' requirements with local additions added on to be honest. I’m pretty confident that an UK Spec 'as is' Elise will fail a compliance test, but only on the drivers door mirror as its not flat. The speedo isn’t a necessity and providing the speedo you have shows MPH and KPH then you will be okay..

I went for the speedo change as I didn’t want to have to worry about reading a minor scale on the speedo, give it a go locally and see how you get on but personally, I figured it would be worth the change, especially with things like school zones and the plethora of camera's that are in Sydney.

I changed the mirror glass in the UK as parts are cheaper in the UK compared to Australia. One mirror glass out here (Lotus genuine part) was $140+GST (£66) whereas I got both mirrors done in the UK for £60 fitted.

Basically, its personal preference but I figured spending the money on getting the speedo and mirrors done was worth it based on the fact there are some pretty hefty fines out here these days, its saves hassle and I wanted to get it done at a dealer I could trust.

I'll let you know how it all goes; car is due in port mid March so that’s where the real fun begins... when are you planning on coming back/shipping your car??

Sounds very worthwhile getting it done here prior to shipping. At least when it comes off the boat you can use it (almost) right away!

No problems with updates on costs and things, its best to share this knowledge so we all benefit... Once the car arrives and I don’t everything I'll post something up.

Car is on the water so its just a waiting game, boat docks March 18th... Can't wait!!
