They are doing my head in. My elise is pretty perfect, apart from the millions of stone chips that they all get.

Anyone had their front end re-painted because of them? Wonder how much it would be, can imagine it would have to be blown back a fair bit..

Also the last thing I want is a load of over-spray!

Worth doing or not??

About £600ish from memory to get it done properly. Investing aother couple of hundred on a good 3m film to protect it thereafter is WELL worth it.

Highly rate a 3m covering for the front clamshell. Spent £5oo. 6 months ago
and not a single chip to be seen! Better point out that i do very little motorway driving just fast country lanes.

Just to give a contrary opinion, I think the protective film looks a bit sh1te. I'd much prefer to just get the front end resprayed when I'm looking at selling and live with the stonechips day to day.

Protective film is never 100% invisible and doesn't clean up like paintwork. Have a look at the wheel arch protectors for example.

Try thinking of stonechips as little ticks saying you're driving it right!

hehe I'd agree and posted a very similar observation on SELOC in the last couple of days.

But to be fair I expect it is very much dependent on your top coat colour. I think the base primer on mine is a light colour (and I have new aluminium) so on the darker coloured cars I suspect a stone chip is far more evident, but careful application of touch up is probably still better than film.

rolleyes Who'd have thought the colour of the car could save you so much money in the long run.......

Mag blue car here, I'll live with the white base-coat showing through, think it looks better than the protective film. I've got some chips near the rad grills as well and even some near the fuel filler! - Lord only knows what I was doing to get a couple up there.

I'd claim it was some woman's finger nails laugh

£400 for nose/bumper area repainting, £175 for Venture Shield on the nose and it curls round the edges so you cant see it. Just had it done. Brilliant product. It got hit at 40 mph by a wheel trim sideways on and it didnt damage the paint.
