I've got an 03 Elise 111 and there is some blistering on the paintwork (5 or 6 different places). A bodywork specialist has recommended I return it to the dealer to have it sorted out under warranty.

Does anyone have any experience of Lotus under these circumstances? Will they refuse to get it sorted?. Is it reasonable to think they will?

Thanks

I have had a similar problem myself where the paint has actually flaked off. About to get in touch with dealer to try and get a respray.

My 01 S2 suffered from blistering, I hadn't actually noticed but I was at Paul Matty's asking advice as I had scuffed the front winglets on a raised manhole. They pointed out the blistering and suggested I take it to a dealer. Nick Whale took it in under warranty and resprayed the clamshell (although I did discover mask lines later) pretty good job though and for 60 quid repaired the winglets. Seemingly it is due to moisture still in the GRP part before painting and is a fairly common problem.

You should have no problem and you get the stonechips sorted in the process

I read this post with interest and now have a question for which i am not sure I wish to hear the answer!

What about blistering in the paintwork that I have (around the clips for the central roof bars)and did nothing about under warranty!!!!! Only myself to blame I know! Would they do anything???????? Anyone had any similar experience of "Justoutsideofwarrantyrepairs"???
In my stupidity I thought this was just another quirk of ownership and left it!

Its an April 02 S2 so only 3 months outside of the 1 year warranty but the paint has come off now. Similar problem on the wing mirros (potentially caused by the car cover I think)but prety annoying!

My 99T developed a microblister problem whilst under warranty. It went back to the factory for repair and came back a mess. The microblisters returned after 5 days. They pssd around so I got solicitors and independant engineers reports and threatened to sue. They gave me £4K to go away.
Solicitor reckoned that warranty was irrelevant, and that car was not of merchantable standard etc etc

abz start by talking to your dealer. I got a whole new dash installed 3 times out of warranty (admittedly they made a pigs ear the first 2 times (once bad installation, once poor part from lotus, 3rd time a charm)).

If they are no use, then you'll have to take legal advice.
