Hi,
looking for a bit of fun during the summer having sold my noble last year.
don't want to a put loads of money into another car at the moment so looking at early s2's

couple of questions...
how dramatic is the difference between a standard s2 and an s2 with the 135 upgrade.
what sort of price is a front clam re-spray or even a front clam replacement

thanks

I doubt there will be a huge difference between the standard 118bhp and the 135bhp upgrade. 0-60 will be slightly quicker and I imagine the car will have a bit more punch when depressing the loud pedal! The 111S might be worth a look, which packs 150-160bhp ... smile

Not sure on how much a front clam re-spray is ... Front clam replacement can be anywhere between £800-2400 ... eBay and classfieds are the best places to find affordable clams.

Are you thinking of the 135R?
Bit of a different animal to the boggo car being more track focused. Apart from the uprated engine it has Lotus Sport Suspension, Nice Oz wheels an d came fitted with OA48s as standard. I think it was a bit lighter than the boggo car too (no soundproofing and may have had a different interior.

the car i'm looking at simply says it's an s2 with the lotus sport exhaust and a lotus fitted 135 upgrade?

it's a 2002 car. don't think it's a 135r?

budget is about 12.5 to 13k

After a nobel you will find a standard 'Liz hard work after about 80mph. An "upgrade" to 135bhp is kinda missing the point. The joy of the 135r was that it is very track focussed.

What do you want from the car, track days or spirited road driving. Commuting or pootling 'round town?

For paint I would budget:-

Lower half of front clam respray with clam left on the car £250-350.

Whole clam repaint including removal £550-650.

These prices will be more if any glassfibre work needed.

Having had a 118bhp car and the 135S I can say that the 135 is much more drivable. More torque lower down and not quite a sluggish above 70mph (on trackbiggrin) Definately worth the extra money IMHO. But then if you throw a 111s into the equation, I would imagine that would come out top!

Really? I had a whole front clam done on a Noble for £450 and it was quality work.

Im suprised noone has said fun car ... sunny days ... S1 Sport 160? get a nice one for 11k and put 2k in the kitty. job done . less depreciation than an S2 and arguably more fun. I say this and i have an S2 biggrin but i use it as an only car so i love the little luxuries (easy roof) biggrin
