Anyone have any opinion on why the following isnt selling from classifieds?

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/350331.htm

Car has a honda conversion from sinclaire's and has only covered approx 6k miles since then, time of year maybe? Just looks like a bargain to me?

(btw im not trying to create publicity for this vehicle, i have no idea who the owner is laugh)

It seems to be priced about £10k more than a non-converted Exige. That's the reason its not selling IMO.

Hmm, not sure, looks like a reasonable price, although having said that, 230bhp for about 8-8k more than the car would have been if it was still a VHPD seems a lot when you think about it. S1 Exiges are a niche market... Converted Exiges are a niche of a niche so I'm guessing the market's small so it might take a while to sell.

It is just not worth that sort of money. £20 000 tops. There is also a nice 111S with Honda in it but he wants £18 000, again however nice it is just too expensive, £15 000 is more like it.

I have to disagree - I think £25k is the right money for an S1 Honda Exige, although you are advertising to a very limited market, so it's really only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

Could do with better pictures though and at the very least it should be clean & bright with interior / engine pics as well.

I've seen the car at Sinclaires. Looks to be in immaculate condition. The price tag of £26.5k is too much for an N/A car. If it was an SC it would be about right imho.

Whoever said it's worth 15K is on another planet!

I was thinking 24-26k was about right depending on what mods had been carried out, thought this would have been snapped up for the lot race series or something similar... Agree the pics are ste though, not done themselves any favours

Remember seeing a red honda'd s1 exige for sale a while back, believe that was 26.5k but was fully sorted with suspension, brakes, sc conv and many more mods etc, that seems the correct price, maybe this is 1-2k over the correct price tag but i wouldnt have said anymore than that tbh?

I thought the honda'd cars were rated higher than they obviously are...

Agree 15k is way to low for this spec, k series s1 exiges go for 16-22k depending on condition

Nobody suggested the Exige was worth only £15k. Francelise suggested that a Honda converted Elise 111s would be worth about £15k, i.e £5k more than a non-converted car, which sounds about right to me. That would make an S1 Honda Exige worth about £20-23k in my book.

Yep, limited market and a sizeable tag have it wedged for the moment

If I was in the market, which I'm not, then I would definitely be having a closer look at that... for £3k less thumbup

Apologies, mis understood the post, i should pay more attention lol, id have to agree with you, for an na honda, id say 23k would be about right and upto about 26k for the sc honda... (depending on what other mods had been carried out of course and the overall condition of car)

Doesn't seem like good value. It was a 44,000 mile exige before the conversion, what do they go for about 12-14k in a condition like that. I don't know why the guy doesn't just sell it himself at a realistic price instead of letting a dealer sell it and thus needing to make a profit. The last honda sc exige on ph had twice the spec sold for 25k, I think that was an edwards conversion and it also had some kind of expensive custom paint job.

Also why did it need the ap clutch? I light clutch pedal would be so much better in a car like this.

Agree, 20k is a more realistic price. But who knows, someone might come by eventually and pay the 26.5k rofl

Clearly those of you who are making comments about what any converted car is worth have done your research, know how the maths stacks up, know all about the different conversion kits and their pros and cons, and aren't just pulling arbitrary numbers out of the air based on hot air. Right?

what the car is worth depends more on it's condition and spec than anything else.

Having a Honda in it does not automatically make it worth £X more, depends what sped the Honda is, who did the job, what warrentee is applicable, etc etc etc.

then you get to what state the car itself is in, could be anything from tired to A1 showroom, that's will make a bigger difference.

for example, just to do a refresh on an Exige (ignoring the engine/box/etc) is not a cheap excerse, by the time you have paid for *all* the balljoints/bushes/bearings/bolts/flanges/brakes/radiator&fans/dampers&springs/cables/plating&coating/etc. etc. your looking at ~£4-5K in parts alone

without going over it and doing a complete apprasal, I would not say £26K is too much or too little.

Just asking for everyone's opinion as i was surprised it hadnt sold. I know the spec isnt the best compared to others ive seen for sale on here but i thought it would have been snapped up by now... I thought we were all experts on this site laugh

Exactly. Just like buying ANY car, the "value" is only apparent when you know ALL the facts. And that "value" is only really relevant to you as a potential buyer.

Yes I have Timbiggrin

As you and I both know, it's the spec of the cars along with overall condition that seperates the good from the bad....along with who's actually converted it.

Just getting a potential buyer for a converted car is difficult enough!
