Hi,

I'd be looking, in the next couple of months, to get a used 2004 111R with touring pack, A/C and hardtop. What is the right price for a clean car (up to 30k miles)?

I am located in London (if anybody is willing to sell).

Approx £20-21k from a main dealer. Just a guess based on the trade in price of my old 111R (54 plate, 27k mileage) when buying an exige.

About 20k from a main dealer depending on condition. Christopher Neil have a couple 04 and 05 around the £20k mark. 2004 Ardent Red 111R, 29k miles - £19,450. 2005 Autumn Gold 111R, 19k miles, £19,950 - Looks like an ex factory car.

Yep,

You can get some early R's now for around 18k but 19k - 20k should buy a good one

Spotted a few in the classifieds for around £17K. There are loads of cars about and as it's still winter it's very much a buyers' market. Buy privately and get it inspected by a Lotus specialist and I reckon you could pick one up for £17K, maybe a bit less if you're good at negotiation.

17K where have you seen one for that cheap Kev? My Brother has been looking at load's? He's going to pay around 19k for and 04/54

Must be honest he's seen a few shed's for 18k

These two are in the classifieds:

Granted, they're over 20K miles but I wouldn't let that put you off - 30K in 4 years is only 7,500 a year - means it's not a garage queen, there's a fair bit of evidence to suggest these cars prefer regular use

And this one's a bit more but is a trade sale:

I know where you can get a 57 plate with 1000 miles on the clock for £26/27k with all the criteria that you listed.

I paid £19,950 for mine (04, touring pack) a year ago from a main dealer, so it's encouraging to know that prices have hardly fallen at all since then. You might struggle to find one with a hard top, I didn't see many of those when I was looking. On the other hand, it's not essential as the touring pack soft top is thicker anyway and does the job fine. Many 'normal' cars seem to drop about half of their value in 4 years, so that would put it about £15k - 111Rs are well above that so don't seem to be doing badly for depreciation

Thank you all for your replies.

I am looking to spend 17-18k GBP. Perhaps I will have to forget the hardtop at this price but concentrate in getting a clean car.

There is a nice White 07 R with supertouring pack for 27.5k (asking) GBP on this website's classifieds but unfortunately my budget doesn't stretch that much.

Hardtops crop up in the classifeds now and again for £600 so keep an eye out. You may find you don't really need one anyway.
