4-2-1 Manifolds
Discussion
I've been thinking about the Honda conversion for a while now and basicly
I cant afford it at the moment! So to put me on as it were with a modest
hike in power im looking at the Larini manifold to complement my Club Sport
system. Any better cheaper alternatives? I think the Larini is £390 ish plus
vat.
Or is it a waste of time and money regarding an improvement in hp? There are
some claims of around 10 bhp!?
Russ.

Had a 2bular 4-2-1 fitted to my 2-11(along with exhaust system and d-cat pipe) and the car definately feels livlier, what the additional hp rise is I can't tell you but by fitting one without any other modifications I wouldn't think there would be much of a gain, 5HP maybe). So if you look at the cost plus VAT plus fitting it could work out to be as much as £100 per BHP

I wouldn't do it if I were you.
Last year, I knackered my standard manifold changing a faulty corroded lambda sensor. I took the opportunity to fit a 4-2-1 manifold instead of replacing standard. Car is otherwise standard 111S and I refitted the same ol' Janspeed sport back box. As for power increase, well the negligable difference at the top end of the rev range isn't really noticeable. Worse still, it's just noisy. I failed a trackday noise test after fitting where previously I'd sailed through. Not necessarily the sound coming out of the pipe, just the increased racket coming from under the engine cover. Save your dosh sir.

Been loads on the Seloc tech forum about this subject.
The view seems to be that the best and most worthwhile gains come from fitting one without a flexi. Eliseparts do a very good one which uses a slip joint rather than a flexi.
On its own I doubt it will give you much. It really comes into its own if you have the head ported. With decent induction you should be able to move gases in and out of the engine quicker = more power.
