Just had a 'B' service and they said that my oil seal is leaking oil onto my cambelt so the belt and seal will need repacing. I have been quoted £280+VAT. Does that sound reasonable? I have a 2004 111s. (Rover K Series engine)

Id say a bit on the expensive side. I had mine done (by a lotus specialist) for £140 (Newcastle)

Did they say which oil seal? Crank or cams?
Either way, thats very expensive. I'd charge £150 max for replacing the oil seals, inc parts. Did they check the water pump? If the oil seals are leaking, I'd bet that the pump is also weeping if it hasnt yet been replaced.
Very sensible to do it all at the same time while the timing belt is off.

Do you have a 111S though? The VVC engine has two cam belts, which makes it a little more expensive to get done. I don't know if you have to do both sides at once but it probably makes sense to anyway, or you'll have to replace the other one on mileage/time soonish anyway.

I paid £293 for the B service, yet I only paid £87 for the A service last year, Is there a lot more to do on the B service?

Also does anyone know of somewhere I could go that will be cheaper to get my cam belt sorted in the East Yorkshire region?

Thanks

i would say that was pretty good for a Cambelt, as already said there are two belts on the VVC, make sure they are doing the tensioner too. I did mine myself at the back end of last year, parts along were just over £70 and at a specialist you have got to be looking a few hours labour.
