I know that there have been a few postings relating to this, but perhaps not enough. I'm planning to put a sub in and need to run power from the battery, requireing a feed through the bulkhead between engine bay and cabin. I've seen the 'Janitor' instal, which requires drilling the bulkhead, and several other posts saying that the bulkhead shouldn't be drilled. Are there any other alternatives? I've been looking at a rubber grommit around a pipe feed just to the left of what seems to be the main electrical feed into the cabin (which is pretty well sealed and bunged), but I suspect that this is heading for the fuel tank!. Also there seems to be a small feed through the far left hand side (looking from the back, behind what I assume to be the fuel pump, but it's a git to get to. Any ideas?

Don't be soft. Drill through the bulkhead.

Do it from the inside out & you'll be fine. To be 100% sure take out a rear speaker & drill from the inside where the speaker would sit.

I wouldn't splice it from the cigarette lighter, a Sub needs to run directly from the battery.

I brought my power feed in through the engine bay into the back/underneath of the passenger side pod (this was on an exige mind you) and in through a convenient little gap the fed straight into the cabin under the bulkhead cover - I didn't need to drill a thing and no wires visible.

Quite interested how you did this as I need to get the power to the passenger footwell and If i dont have to I would rather not drill throught the bulk head!! (s2 EXIGE)

If you take the side pod off you should see where I mean.

Sorry can't give pics or anything as I don't have the exige anymore.

You don't need to drill anything to get the wire through. There's a grommet on the passenger side of the engine bay, towards the bottom, that the wire can pass through. When my last car was done professionally, they used this without issue. Remember to heat-wrap the wire as it runs across the engine bay, and cable tie it neatly out of the way.

If anybodies interested I ended up drilling through the bulkhead from the back of the rear speaker enclosure behind the drivers seat (because you can get at it without removing the seat!). I fed the wires straight from the battery terminals through the far grommit and down the left hand side (as you look from the rear) of the engine bay, then turned right and fed the wires through behind the engine cover hinges across to the drivers side (hence they are invisible in the engine bay area, then down behind the insulation and through the newly drilled hole behind the speaker. I've then taken the wires down the carpet on side of the sill next to the drivers seat and then up under the to the dash and along the underside of the dash. Its all pretty invisible (which is more than can be said for the newly installed Alpine SWD-1600 Velcro'ed into the pass. foot well) but the new Alpine 9886 head unit works a treat and controls my ipod as well. I've also put in a bluetooth link in for my phone but I haven't got that fixed in yet. If anyone has any questions then please feel free to ask. The sound is a massive improvement by the way and I'm very pleased
